Oddfellas Pub & Eatery Tacoma
Excellent experience from beginning to end with staff and food to match. Oddfellas offers a casual ‘sports’ pub/restaurant experience which includes a full menu of pup fare plus American favourites. Also of special mention is an excellent and varied selection of 25 local and imported beers on tap plus some cider offerings. We stopped in for lunch starting with an appetizer of Poutine (a very traditional Quebecois dish of fries, cheese and gravy) which was an ample serving for two of fresh hot fries covered in melty gooey cheese curds then smothered in a blanket of tangy/smoky beef gravy.
Afterwards we followed with a traditional french dipsandwich (French Dunk) which featured a good and thick amount of thinly sliced roast beef accompanied with a dark rich au jus for dipping, along with sliced pickle and onion. This selection included a side option of either fries, totts, cole slaw or ‘naughty’ mash which are a creamy and nicely seasoned red mashed potatoes with skins remaining served with a personal sized gravy boat. We also ordered the Pub Burger (½ lb blend of Wagyu and Angus beef) with pepper jack cheese which came sporting lettuce and tomato along with onion and pickle with again side options of fries, totts, cole slaw or ‘naughty’ mash. Even though the many bar offerings were tempting, we washed it all down with real strawberry lemonade (made with strawberry puree NOT syrups) and a refreshing unsweetened ice tea. In regards to service, the beverages alone bring special note. Our server (Danielle I believe) never let the beverages go dry without a refill. It was a warm day out and her attention to this simple detail without ever having to ask stood out!
Oddfellas has a nice array of offerings to satisfy most anyone's appetite including a Sat/Sun breakfast which is next on our...
Read moreI came here on Tuesday 11/12 to get a bite to eat and hopefully watch the Sounders parade since they had won the MLS Cup on Sunday. Getting there
I was pleasantly surprised as how open and bright everything was. My mom and I were greeted by MJ the manager and were told to go ahead and sit anywhere we wanted. Sitting in the bar area I was asked what brought us in and when I had told them about the parade and how I was hoping to watch it, MJ went above and beyond and turned it on with the volume so I could hear it. That right there made my day. His willingness to do that was what great customer service is.
Our waitresses were also amazing and wonderful. We had ordered the clams, a meaty and cheesy sandwich and their roasted red pepper Gouda bisque and it was all delicious. Everything was hot and cooked to order and there was nothing left. The food can be described as comfort food with a twist. My mom's pallet and my pallet were extremely happy. The beer selection wasn't too long but it had variety and they make cocktails perfectly.
My experience here at this place one that left an impression. If you ask for a game to be on, they will turn it on for you. That's something that will keep me coming back along with the AMAZING staff. I can't put into words how much that made an impact on my day. As a die hard Sounders fan, it was special for me to watch the parade and rally. Everyone there also had a smile and having people there that were willing to help and go above and beyond is something you don't find often at other places. I will be back very soon and will continue to come back. Thank you to the staff at Oddfellas for an outstanding first...
Read moreThis is my second time in, this time during a less crowded hour. However, during the second time, I faced similar problems to the ones I'd had on my first go round.
The wait staff was a bit sluggish, instead the manager resorted to having to walk the floor. The appetizer (poutine) was cold on the edges, and piping hot through the middle, suggesting that it had been sitting a while or possibly reheated.
However, the main course was well prepared. The first time was Bangers and Mash, the second was Sheppard's Pie. The meats were well spiced, the potatoes excellent. However, the brown gravy leaves much to be desired, tasting like it's a prepackaged gravy mix in water.
Speaking of other watered down and wasteful products: the cocktails. Lord alive, a straight shot of hard liquor has more taste than these things. The one I ordered: Orange Vodka, Orange Juice, Red Bull, chilled shaken and strained. When I got it, if there was supposed to be ice in it, it was melted. I couldn't taste any Red Bull, could barely taste orange juice. It was just vodka. Vodka with a SMALL hint of orange.
I left that same manager who'd been acting as wait staff a note the previous visit, informing him about his staff's lack of engagement. But, I see they didn't get the memo.
If you're in town for a single meal, and insist on English classics, it's best to come here for main course only, then pub hop in town along 6th. You're likely to find better beer there too, but I wouldn't know. I...
