Taco Del Mar — Restaurant in Tacoma

Honestly I’ve been holding onto this for a year and have to put it on here. The owner is stingy. He works all the weekdays and he will give you HALF portions compared to any other location. Last year I drove up to get 3 taco salads for me and my family close to closing time. There was about 4/5 people in line. The owner was working. There were different modifications to each salad due to food sensitivities and allergies. I believe my sister wanted extra beans and rice since she does not eat meat I stated that he proceeded to put the TINIEST amount of rice and beans EVER. When I asked if he could put more in, he looked me dead In the eyes, glanced back and the line of 3/4 customers, scoffed, held up his ladle, and said “I’ve got other people to feed here” HE WAS RATIONING the rest of the food as if I was begging for food at a soup kitchen when I was in fact paying almost $50!!! When I brought the salads back home my mom and sister looked at the quarter full salad shells and said why are they so empty? I still cannot believe he acted as if I was a nuisance for asking for a regular portion of food. He is literally Mr. Crabs. He has people offering to work weekdays for him and he said “id rather work it myself cause it saves me money” totally fine however you can tell he is trying to save money else where too, by skimping on food. He’s also just RUDE. If any of my family pull up and see he’s the one working we leave and eat...

ive been here a bunch of times. the usual staff was fine but they recently hired two young staff one hispanic girl and a white girl. i go in and order they have their little guy friend who is visiting sitting talking to them. so they dont even acknowledge me as i come in...i walk up both are just staring at me in dead silence . i ordered something as simple a quesadilla...the girl just throws cheese in there and puts in in the warmer. i say are you forgetting something? she is like what? i point to the menu i say it comes with pico and it states that on the menu. shes like oh i thought you just want cheese? um what? then she sits there still preparing the cheese one. boxes it up (why?) then takes her time and makes a new one with the pico for me... and im watching her she almost handed me the only cheese one. then gets an attitude when i call her out. ridiculous... bunch of idiotic high school kids that dont know how to do anything right or in a friendly manner. and that says a lot coming from someone like myself considering im only 25 years old. get...

So first of all this Taco Del Mar on Pearl is 100% my favorite. Jana is awesome and understanding, I have Asperger syndrome and have a very hard time with tastes and textures. Jana is always amazing and makes my burrito right every single time, she just picks up on what I'm about to say before I say it and always make sure that I have plenty of guacamole, sour cream and everything is evenly spread. She always gives me a ton of jalapenos on the side just like I like. Also their manager Mark is top notch and sweet as hell. This is the only Taco Del Mar I will use and I make a special trip out here because they are that amazing. Their store is always clean their food is always fresh their trays are always sanitized and their drinks are never too syrupy or to club soda. Yes Taco Del Mar is a bit expensive but you definitely get what you pay for here! I would definitely recommend it for a date, friends or family! Thank you Jana and...
