BJs
Honestly, they've definitely declined in quality in every single aspect of their restaurant. I ordered a chicken Alfredo on DoorDash a few weeks ago and it was the worst pasta I've ever had and I typically loved their pasta which is why I spent an egregious $50 to receive it at work. It was ridiculously bland as if they added zero seasoning to anything but the chicken which had very little itself. I had to take it home and re-season it to be edible so I starved that day for lunch.
This past Monday I decided to give them another chance because I don't remember the food being that poor the last time I dined in. I wish I could say I had a better experience lol. It was my birthday so I was hopeful. The booth we sat in obviously hadn't had the seats cleaned in forever (and as someone who serves at a restaurant it's supposed to be included in the side-work requirements every night) and there was an abundance of old crumbs in the crevices of the booth and directly on top, so they didn't even really clean the table. I've been a busser so I get it- it was 8:30 on a slow Monday night and they probably didn't care too much to be meticulous. I just swiped it off and sat down.
The food was okay. The appetizers are probably the best thing to eat there; the mozzarella sticks were delicious and cooked perfectly (although one small ramekin of marinara sauce is crazy) and the spinach artichoke dip was tasty and cheesy. Everything else.. eh choose at your discretion. My mom enjoyed her pizza a lot. My sister said her wings were nothing special. My aunt wasn't raving about the sandwich she ordered (I can't remember which one). And my ribs were good, a little overcooked, but I had no real complaints. The only real complaint I have about my meal was that they have macaroni and cheese on the menu- probably the main reason i went cause i love mac and cheese- but when I ordered it I was told it's not mac and cheese... it's a cheese couscous. It was disgusting and I was a little pissed I had to pay extra for something that sucked. It tasted like a bland, creamed quinoa concoction and it was inedible. And i'll eat anything covered in cheese sauce! The only consistent item is their pizookie which was delicious of course (i got the cookies and creme). It wasn't worth talking to a manager or anything about because:
The service was also quite poor. We had one server who had to leave so we got another one. The problem was our new server seemed completely uninterested in checking on us after the food arrived and I want to put good faith in the possibility that it was just because we were out of her section. But I couldn't eat my meal without ketchup and by the time she came back to ask us how it was tasting, everyone else was pretty much done with their food so I just asked for a box. It wasn't busy (i could see the majority of the restaurant from where i was sitting) so that's the only reason I'm a bit upset about it although it probably wasn't done maliciously. It took us about 20 minutes just to pay because it would take her a while to get back and their systems didn't automatically discount items that were on special. I hate having those experiences, as a black person who has served for 6 years now, so I definitely won't be back for at least a year on that alone. The menus, recipes, and ambiance aren't properly kept up as they should be and it leaves for a less than decent dinner experience. But they could easily improve back to their old glory if they tried, it's just not worth a bang...

We were seated quickly (no wait time, score!) and ordered mozzarella sticks and drinks first after being greeted by our sever. The appetizer came promptly (thanks to a food runner), but our server was completely disengaged and barely checked in with us.
I waited over 20 minutes for a Boba-rita I was really looking forward to trying. When I finally reminded the server, she said she’d check the bar—and the drink showed up right after, completely watered down. It had clearly been sitting there for a while because she forgot to follow up on it.
We ordered a ribeye and baked ziti with no marinara or pepperoni, along with a mozzarella and tomato side salad. The salad came out quickly—but we had no silverware at the table. When I flagged her down to ask for some, she passed the blamed to another staff member, saying, “They were supposed to bring that out already,” and then finally went to get it herself.
When the entrées arrived, the ziti was made incorrectly. I pointed it out, and while my partner ate his entrée alone, I sat waiting. Over 20 minutes AFTER he finished his meal, the server returned—not with the Ziti remake I was waiting on, but to ask if we wanted dessert. I told her I still hadn’t received my corrected entrée. Only then did she go check with the kitchen and return to say the ziti was just now being made—proof she hadn’t checked in on it at all.
When it finally arrived, it was lukewarm—most likely because she once again failed to follow up and it sat too long before being brought out. This dish is usually piping hot, fresh from the oven. At that point, I was just ready to leave.
She did comp the dessert (ironically, the only thing she personally brought out in a timely manner), but not the entrée that was delayed, made incorrectly, and barely warm. She also didn’t offer drink refills until the very end—and even then, she had to be reminded that we were waiting on a soda refill (VERY infuriating). A simple soda refill was somehow too much to keep track of, which really summed up the night.
I used to really enjoy this BJ’s and visited often in 2022, but after this visit, I won’t be returning anytime soon. The service was inattentive, careless, and frustrating. First time I’ve EVER...
Read moreMy family took me to lunch on Sunday (Mother's Day May 8th, 2022). There was not a wait & there were LOTS of people working yet we had a wait- for our drinks, to order our food etc. I ordered the 15 Oz prime rib special & ask it to be VERY RARE! I ordered the broccoli and chedder soup. I also ordered the sourdough bread LOAF extra & ask if it was enough to share with the family. I was assured it was plenty. My soup came in a sourdough bread bowl which I DID NOT order! No loaf of bread! Sent it back to be corrected. Then the "manager" came saying something we could not understand & I had to stop him & have him start over. He "heard" there was a problem at our table. He wanted to apologize. I informed him what happened. He assured me my soup was coming right out. I told him I didn't want the bread now as my family is almost finished with their soup. I waited. & Waited. No soup came! Our entrees arrived. My steak was supposed to be VERY RARE but it was med rare instead. (We all ordered the prime rib same way) I called the "manager" over & ask him how it looked cooked. He agreed it was med rare. I had to explain once again what I told our waitress. He then said he'd fix it & my meal was on him & what else could he do? I said I STILL don't have my soup! He had the audacity to tell me I told him I didn't want the soup! That is not what I said, I told him I did not want my soup in a bread bowl but the bread was supposed to be on the side for us to share! He then told me that's how the bread comes & I said that is not what your menu says! He doesn't even know the menu! It said Sourdough bread LOAF! I finally received my soup but it doesn't look right. It's too orange for broccoli & cheddar. My steak finally showed up (family is almost finished by this time). My steak? It's less than rare again. I give up. I'm leaving. My daughter had to flag down someone to get our Mother's Day glasses. 3 times! We've been going to this restaurant for last 5 years except when closed for covid. We have NEVER gotten service of any kind like this! I was extremely dissatisfied with our visit. No one said anything to us as we left. What has happened to our local BJ's? Where is the care & concern for the customer they used to have? Probably blame "covid" but they can't. Will I go back? I don't know, time will tell...
