Monumentally bad service!! On Friday, May 16, after an unusually hard week, my wife wanted a nice dinner at home, curled in front of the TV. She decided it was the right time to try Connor’s, Tallahassee’s upscale (i.e. expensive) new steakhouse. At 5:44, she placed an online order, a simple order of a steak, baked potato and calamari, with a promised delivery of 6:04 (see photo). Unfortunately she prepaid. We arrived at 6:00, and I went in to get her order while she waited with our dogs in the car. I told the young woman at the front desk that I was there to pick up my wife’s order, giving her first and last name. I was told to wait at the side. So there I stood, the single small bench being occupied. After about 10 minutes, the woman from the desk came to assure me that the kitchen had my order and knew I was there. I then proceeded to wait. And wait. And wait. I was dressed in my casual Friday professional work clothes. A man with an earpiece (manager?) circled the room, passing me every so often. Not once did he make eye contact. Despite standing by the bubble machine at the front door, a prominent location, nobody came over to ask if I needed anything, no offer of a glass of water. Nothing. After 30 minutes I was pretty irritated, but became interested in how long I would be ignored. The number of people who walked by me numerous times, including the woman I originally spoke with at the front desk, while purposefully avoiding eye contact, was amazing. Finally, after 50 MINUTES of waiting at that prominent spot without any further acknowledgement, I asked the woman at the front desk who earlier assured me that my meal was coming, more politely than I should have, where my order was. One of the desk staff went back. A few minutes later, a server came out and asked, again, what order I was there to pick up. I gave her the name. She came back out shortly thereafter, and explained that the order had been given to the wrong person, returned, and sent back to the kitchen. She had the order, admitting it had been sitting for 15 minutes, though since it was 6:50, I know it was longer. She offered to take it back and have it warmed up. Seriously? Being in no mood, I took the order and left. But for the poor server, no one offered an apology or an acknowledgment. This after ignoring me for 50 minutes. Obviously, when we got home the food was ice cold, the calamari, which came with no sauce, was limp and greasy, and the steak, ordered medium, was well done, without a hint of pink, and overly charred. As my wife correctly noted “an expensive meal ruined.” How a wannabe fancy restaurant could leave a customer to stand around without so much as a glass of water, and without any effort to see what the issue was, is beyond me. I’m just happy I opted to clear some leftovers for dinner so I didn’t get stuck for two cold, poorly prepared, lousy meals. I’m sure Connor’s will take the money of many Tallahasseans, but after tonight it won’t again be mine. Word to the wise - if you order takeout, leave yourself an out and don’t prepay. The one-star review is only because the scale doesn’t go lower.

Before I go to sleep, I needed to write this review. The Dilemma I recently moved to the area and without my family due to military obligations. Today is my birthday and I didn’t feel like celebrating. However, my friend told me I should do something for myself. So I decided to look for a restaurant that served steak and I found Connors. I looked at the reviews along with pictures and it looked amazing! I tried to make a reservation online and there were no reservations available until the following day. I immediately called and asked if they had any reservations. They confirmed that they did not have any availability. I informed them that it was just for one person and that today was my birthday. The hostess placed me on hold to ask if they could accommodate me. She came back and said that they can serve me! The Experience When I arrived to Connors, I told them my name and the hostess immediately said happy birthday. She brought me to a table and they surprised me with a birthday card which had signatures from multiple servers. That was so sweet! First of all my server, Tatiana was delightful from beginning to the end. She asked if I wanted to start off with a celebratory drink and of course I said yes. I ordered the Southern Belle which was sweet and strong. She showed me the chef’s selection menu and told me things that were her favorites. I took her upon it. I ordered the deviled eggs for my starter and it was so yummy! I ordered the Delmonico ribeye which came with a side and a salad. I selected a Caesar salad and white cheddar mac & cheese. Rolls came out with pesto butter. I never knew pesto in the form of butter could taste so good, it was delish! The Service Tatiana is everything you want in a server-polite, attentive, knows the dishes and fast. She offered to take pictures for me even telling me how to pose. (She might be a photographer on the side.) The pictures came out lovely!! Thank you, Tatiana. The service was fast but I had time to eat between each dish without feeling rushed. Plates were removed when needed. There was a spill on the ground and a server stood over it till Tatiana was able to clean it up. A caution, wet floor sign was placed over the area. Safety is important! The manager checked in with me and I gushed that Tatiana and his staff were the sweetest. The Unexpected After Tatiana bagged my food, she said the gentlemen at the table beside me wanted to gift me with a strawberry shortcake. I looked at her shocked and asked if it was the couple next to me. She said yes. I believe I overheard her tell them happy anniversary before they left. How sweet of them to gift me with something when they’re celebrating their love. I definitely had to pay it forward. Oh and the desert was delish! Nice and warm. Connors deserves all the 5 stars it receives. I will be returning in the future and taking visitors. I hope Tatiana continues to serve there because I don’t want anyone else! Thank you all for making this birthday that started off lonely to making it one of my best birthdays ever!! Blessings. ☺️🧡

Date Night at the newly opened Connors because friends have been raving about it...especially the grilled Salmon and grilled Chicken. It opened in March 2025. The Vibe. Modern. Big Windows. Well Positioned Bar. Open Grill. Cooks & Service & Front of House EVERYWHERE. Apparently, we chose a good night to dine because we were told that the co-owners/bosses were in the building. The Service. Excellent! Malachi (like the four chapter book of the Bible) was attentive, engaging, and he knew what he didn't know (like what was in each of the mocktails). Emilia, a long time family friend, stopped by to chat (briefly) and to ensure that all was well. We also had the front of the house check on us multiple times. I trust that the service will always remain this intentionally attentive. The Food. Voodoo Shrimp appetizer was ok. The Bread/Rolls were so good (I recommend a flavored or salted butter to put it OVER the top). Atlantic Salmon x Brown Rice x Brussels Sprouts. The mesquite grilled Salmon was divine; they can grill some salmon. The Brown Rice mixed with grilled vegetables was surprisingly good. The Brussels were chewy and over sauced. Cajun Red Grouper x Fire-Roasted Creamed Corn x Mashed Potatoes. The mesquite grilled Grouper was 'slap her' good. The Corn was topped with bacon and not creamy enough and the Mashed Potatoes were just ok. Didn't finish either. The sides made the food 4 stars not 5. The Dessert. The Strawberry Shortcake was and is the 2nd best dessert in Tallahassee that I have had. Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream, Whipped Cream, Strawberries diced and lots of them, and whatever that cake/cookie thing was amazing. Goodness Gracious. Good Guggamugga. Sooo good. We will be back just for that dessert. *AND* I want the recipe. Connors can you make that happen? The Drinks. We ordered two mocktails. The Tiki Tiki was a coconut and blueberry blend. It was sweet (to my liking) but needed some bubbly/fizz (for her liking) so for the next one, we asked for less ice and for it to be topped with about an inch of sparkling water. That did the trick and made it OUTSTANDING. Google Reviews should add a section to give stars for Dessert and Drinks.

My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary. I wanted to take her somewhere we have not been before. The happy anniversary card that was waiting for us on the table when we arrived was very thoughtful and creative. We enjoyed the appetizer and had just received our meals when another customer was seated in our area who had bathed themselves with a very strong scent. My eyes started burning and my chest was tightening. My wife's asthma was set off. I asked our server to move us and explained why. Apparently this was too much to ask. While waiting to be moved, my wife left the table and went outside. I was stuck to manage our food and drinks. The manager or who I think was the manager came to the table to speak with me and then went to look for my wife. I am glad that he was concerned about her as she did not bring her inhaler. Why? Because we were going to a nice restaraunt and she didn't think that she would need it. Makes sense. Anyway, I was tired of waiting to be moved and my wife was already in the vehicle, so I asked to have the food boxed up and we went home. The 4 for food is because we did not get to enjoy our food at the restaraunt while it was hot and fresh. The 4 for service is because both my wife and I were disappointed in how our situation was handled. There were many vacant tables throughout the restaraunt and it seemed as if there was an act of congress needed for us to be moved. The 5 for atmosphere speaks for itself. My wife and I had never been to this restaraunt before. We will return to try again another day. Hopefully we will not have to contend with another person's choice to over apply strong scents.
