I enjoy the sushi here and usually get it to-go, but it is pretty expensive if you don't go when they have specials, which is when I go (Tuesday is BOGO and Sundays are $10 sushi roll days). My main issue, other than the expense, is that the service is ALWAYS lackluster, I've never had a great experience with service or gotten a warm welcome or smile. I went in last Sunday and I was the only person in the place to order, and it took longer than 10 mins to make my ONE roll and the girl that took my order was sipping on a drink, leaning over the counter, either on her phone or reading a book and the other packing it, watched it be made and whem it was ready, she just stood there until the person that made it finally told her to pack it-- it was literally in front of her ready to go and I was the only person there in the whole restaurant and she still had to be reminded while I stood there and looked at my food from the cash register. The sitting around on the phone and drinking drinks should happen in the back. It looks lazy and unhygienic, and the other girl just seemed clueless about getting very simple tasks accomplished. Neither were customer-service friendly - they just wanted to get the order over but stood around, or at least their demeanor seemed like it. I've been about twice to sit down and four times for to-go over the years (mainly at friends requests for dinner for their first time going which hasn't ever ended in 'I'm definitely coming back!' or to-go only on discounted days folllowing the two disappointing dinners), and the service has been with the waiter clueless or just don't know how to serve people at all; the personality is like a paper plate. I've waited on refills, had my food rung up wrong, and once the rice was not fully cooked and I asked politely if I could be remade because the rice was still crunchy for some reason and the server actually said "Sure, but it will be the same rice..." 🤔 I have been super patient with them, never rude, but it is annoying. I worked in hospitality for over a decade, different restaurants and positions, and the people that work here could be outdone by Chick-fil-a on their worst day. At night, the music can get unpleasantly loud and it can be hard to hold a conversation, however, I never asked for it to be adjusted a bit because I do my best not to complain, even if I did, the servers wouldn't get it. If the service wasn't so blase and / or generally uncomfortable (seems like they're there for the tip but don't want to work for it or engage customers) and the sushi wasn't so expensive on regular days-- but the sushi IS good-- just is expensive, takes forever to get your order, you don't get great service, and, about 30% of the time, my order is wrong, even if I order online and show up well past the estimated completetion time I am still waiting, if these factors had been different, I'd have given 5 stars. The SMALL SIDE salad is $7.99 for some lettuce and sesame seeds and a small side of dressing-- diabolical pricing. For the money and service, I'd recommend Kiku across the street-- I think Rock n Roll is trying to complete with Kiku and their pricing, but there is no real...
Read moreI consider myself to be an excellent judge of character when it comes to hibachi and fried sushi rolls. I am so excited to say that Rock n Roll is my go-to from this point on in my life. I have tried every other place in town. Twice I have done UE delivery from Rock N Roll and can say with true happiness that this is the best. My brain was almost tingling as I ate my dinner last night. The steak was tender and cooked perfectly. The portion was more than ample. I will never order from anyone else local. Each time that I have ordered, I got the exact same experience. It was just perfect. The order came with miso soup or salad, so I selected the salad. It was simply lettuce with a ginger herb dressing. That is not a salad, but I did not order my food in hopes of a dream salad. I will not drop my rating because of a lettuce salad. Everything else was so perfect. Now let's talk salad dressing. I dislike ginger and was happy they kept the dressing to the side. However, I did taste the dressing because it looked delicious. I just had to. It blew my mind because I can not stand ginger....I have to say that whatever RnR is doing, they need to keep it up. I picked their ginger herb dressing over my HV Ranch. I had to taste it because my eyes convinced and over-threw my brain that knew ginger was a no-go. The vegetables were perfect. I was reminded of how perfect pasta is perfect with that tiny little snap you get on a perfect noodle. The veggies reminded me of that. Often, you find the carrot undercooked and zuchini overcooked. Not this restaurant. They apparently precook the carrot so that when they throw the zuchini in the mix, they are not messing them up to try to achieve tenderness. It's just a perfect meal. Rock N Roll, you have earned yourself a forever customer. Top that off with Uber Eats delivering it with excellence, and it was the...
Read moreThe best way I can describe this place is if Hard Rock Cafe had a sushi joint. There's rock and roll blasting through the speakers and music videos on the TV. Perfect for any fan of rock and roll fan out there, so if you choose to come here, don't start complaining if rock and roll isn't your thing.
The server asked me if I needed any silverware. I am adept at using chopsticks, so I said no. She brought me a fork anyway.
At 2pm the place is freaking EMPTY. Who goes into a restaurant alone at 2pm and eats in the dead quiet? Oh, wait. I do.
Most of the sushi here have some variation of fried meat and cream cheese put into the roll, which isn't exactly to my taste, but I understand that kind of palette. I decided to order their Twisted Tuna and the Rockin' Bowl they had on their menu.
The Twisted Tuna looks nothing like how it appeared on their menu. It's half a mound of tuna meat balled up in a nest of avocado slices, slathered in a variety of sauces and seasonings. I wasn't quite sure what I was getting myself into, using my chopsticks on something that had the consistency of raw ground meat--until I remembered the server gave me a bowl of crackling chips, and realized this was meant to be used as a dip. The taste? It's not bad. The eel and chili sauces work well together and the consistency of the meat actually makes the perfect base for the sauces to seep into. The avocado slices are stubborn, however. They stick together harder than the tuna does with itself.
The Rockin Bowl is your standard hibachi faire. It fulfills the standards from top to bottom. Not bad, but not too special. The only thing I'm disappointed about is that I was only given six shrimps.
Overall: I found it just okay. Not amazing but it does its job as a small sushi joint with its rock...
