I was not happy with my experience here. I have had quite a few traditional Pho dishes, and the Pho Vo Vien (Vietnamese noodle soup with eye round and meatballs) that I ingested here was nothing like those. We also ordered some Cha Gio (2 egg rolls[Fried]) and Gio Cuan (2 summer rolls [rice paper]) The cha goi was alright, its very hard to mess up what appeared to be a pre-made probably frozen food item. The Goi Cuan was not so good. They overfilled it with rice noodles and lettuce (Iceberg lettuce.. disgusting and nutrition-less.) There was no mint in it.
Before I go on, at this point in time, 2 groups of people left (A 2 person and 3 person) because the server did not come to them within the 15 minutes they were sitting there. These people got there right after us (Not even 2 minutes) and left after the server gave them water and disappeared. We decided to stay and wait for another 15 minutes, when our food was finally served.
The broth was less than appealing, it tasted like someone had put a few beef bullion cubes into some hot water and that was it. I did not taste depth, did not taste anything really. I ordered my eye round on the side (this is how it is suppose to be ordered, so the meat does not disintegrate due to the sodium), and they gave me 5 pieces of somewhat thick meat. I was afraid the soup was not going to be hot enough to cook the pieces. Traditional Pho you have a dish that is filled with piping hot broth, and dish that has raw meat (usually eye round, ox tail, or similar) that you dip into the noodle/broth combination and then eat. I had to put every piece in there immediately, I did not want to be poisoned here. The noodles were overcooked to oblivion and broke apart while trying to grab them with chopsticks.
I reached for some Cullantro (Not cilantro as most people think) but it was nowhere to be found. They also only gave 3 limes. For 3 grown men, 2 of which are extremely well experienced in eating and flavoring pho, 3 limes are just not enough at all.
We would have asked for more but our server was nowhere to be found.
After the meal, which was not very satisfying, we wanted dessert. We ordered 3 mango boba (milk tea I assume, they did not show any other choices) and waited. We waited and waited and waited. After about 10 minutes of sitting in front of our finished dishes that were not removed, we saw 3 boba tea's waiting at the register. However, they were not ours, they were a parties that came in a good 45 minutes after us. We got up and...
Read moreI tried the Bánh mì sandwiches from a food truck in Washington D.C. for the first time recently and loved it. Was looking for the same experience in Tallahassee, so I tired this place. The service was mediocre at best. I ordered two sandwiches to go. They did not come with sides. After waiting 15+ minutes, they placed my order in a plastic to go bag and tied it off. On the drive back I smelled a whiff of rotting meat, like road kill. Initially I thought I passed by some unfortunate animal on the road, until I smelled it again a few minutes later. I looked at my order, untied the bag at a red light, and took a sniff...and almost gagged on the spot (luckily I was starving and had no food in my stomach). I had to choke my empty stomach back down. I had to smell the food a second time just to make sure I wasn't hallucinating through my nose. It was worse the second time. The food smelled like raw chicken juice left on the counter after a week. When I got to my spot, I took the food out of the bag, thinking maybe its just the bag (wasn't thinking clearly since I was so hungry), but nope...the sandwiches themselves smelled like they were cooked with rotting chicken. I was so disgusted that I threw my whole order away. I didn't want to go through the hassle of trying to take it back and explain the problem. I won't be going back ever again, and I will be telling the experience all over town. In hindsight of a full stomach from a more caring and sanitary restaurant, my experience is kind of funny in a dark way. Maybe Ill go back if I'm looking to get a nice case of food poisoning to get...
Read moreI have been a loyal customer to Pho 7 for years now, but the service I received tonight was unacceptable. When I sat down, the waitress Gabriela did not write down our order and asked us to repeat ourselves multiple times. I ordered pork vermicelli as I always do. Upon receiving our food, I was given pho instead of what I ordered. Gabriela took it back to the kitchen, and ten minutes later comes back with TOFU vermicelli… again, NOT what I ordered, but I told her it was fine. She offered me a complimentary drink for the inconvenience which I accepted. Then, our check comes out and I see that I was charged $14.95 for the soup that I did not order instead of $12.95 for the dry noodles that I did order (and were wrong). When I told her that I would not pay for the soup that I DID NOT ORDER, she then told me that she would charge me for both the dry pork (tofu) vermicelli AND the (complimentary) drink. She did not specify that the drink would be added to my bill, and when I said there was no reason I should be paying for a COMPLIMENTARY drink, she laughed and said she would have to take it back. Mind you, the drink was already half way gone. Throughout this entire interaction, I received attitude and disrespect from Gabriela. She even went as far as to tell me that I should have specified whether I wanted dry or wet vermicelli. I’ve never had this issue before, and it is not my job to know that I have to specify that. I love the food here, but this left a bad taste...
