My husband and I ate here to celebrate our wedding anniversary, we drove from far out of town and talked about the different dinner options a good bit of the rid here because we were excited to have a night out to ourselves because we haven’t in a very long time.
The hostess was very nice and greeted us well, got us seated quickly as we had made reservations. We really loved the atmosphere and how beautiful it was in side, very modern elegance elements. So again got super excited for the food.
Server did a great job of getting to us quickly, she seemed a little flustered and we did see that she was finishing up with a few larger parties.
We went all out tonight because, again we haven’t in a while. We had some beautiful and yummy cocktails, the flat bread was also delicious and could be ate as a meal! The oysters were a bit too salty and garlic so punching that it burned but still nice. My husband’s entree of lamb was so yummy, I had several bites. Not only because it was good, BUT my baked artichoke pasta had a really weird mushy texture and was barely warm. I really didn’t enjoy it at all. The bill was easily $150 + for two people because we were splurging and the atmosphere seemed fitting enough.
I didn’t want to voice any of this to our server because honestly the service was really lacking, she barely checked on us and seemed inconvenienced that we were even there. She did not seem very welcoming/ lost interest in our dining experience as the evening went on and as closing time seemed to approach. I had ordered a side of shrimp and she had come to ask us about dessert and did not even notice that I never received my side order until it was time to pay the bill. The tip I gave did not reflect the service we had received because she was standing “over my shoulder” when giving me the tablet to pay with. In life we don’t get many of these moments and I can say that we will not use another one with this type of service we had...
Read moreWe came here Saturday for a late lunch. we entered through the first door that’s on the left side of the building and stood there for a few minutes while Work passed us and we are waiting to be seated a few minutes. I realized that the hostess was on the other side of the restaurant so we walked over there. It would’ve been nice if someone would’ve told us to walk in that direction or for there to be a sign.
The restaurant was packed rightfully so as this has quickly become very popular- the interior is very aesthetically, pleasing very cute and stylish! Unfortunately, that’s where it all ended for us.
We placed an order for two appetizers, two burgers and a chicken sandwich and it took exactly an hour for our appetizers to come in. I was actually walking out the door when a server brought us the appetizers because our toddler had gotten so fussy and just couldn’t wait anymore. We were ready to leave. I wish I could say the food was worth the wait. The presentation of the oysters was probably the most disappointing I’ve ever seen for fried oyster plate and there’s nothing positive to say about the taste of flavor. The breakfast sliders also our lackluster nothing special.
My husband and brother like their burgers, but also at that point I think when you’re hungry anything will taste good- right? My chicken sandwich was okay Yeah but I felt like it needed another sauce. The bread was also burned which is disappointing since we waited so long I expected everything to come out perfect.
I was pretty disappointed as I was really looking forward to love this place. I had been told by a friend that she had heard mixed reviews and now I understand why management definitely needs to get organized because waiting over an hour for appetizers...
Read moreI hate to be overly negative on reviews so I will start with the only positive part of our experience at The Monroe. The atmosphere is nice.
Unfortunately the good stops there, and I feel obligated to share my experience to hopefully spare others from going to this place.
• We arrived slightly early for a 7:30 dinner reservation for a party of 5. Two members of our party were over 60. They tried to seat us at patio furniture outside without a table to eat at... like just outside chairs for a supposedly high-end dining experience.
• We waited an hour and a half for our food, which was overwhelmingly mediocre for the price.
• Of the 5 of us, only 1 person thought their dish was good, and we all ordered something different.
• I made the mistake of ordering pasta here. Maybe other options are good, but I've had better pasta at Olive Garden.
• The overall service was laughably bad. In the 2 hours we were there we got our water refilled one time, and they never asked if we wanted more cocktails after the first round.
• The appetizers were so small each one would only feed about 3 people. For a party of 5, this was disappointing.
Overall, it feels like they are way too focused on trying to make the place look and feel fancy and the service and food suffer for it. I won't be back, and will warn my friends to steer clear of this place unless they plan to only go for drinks, and even then there are better options in Tallahassee.
I don't think I've been more disappointed in a restaurant in the...
