This park is a great example of how we can incorporate environmental friendly areas that are also fun for all. When first coming to this park I notice the modern look and cleanness. The first thing I laid eyes on was the amphitheater, which was built on a hill with a large stage under a white cover at the front; though it seems to not seat many it is a great sight. There is a playground area near the amphitheater which things that you would not expect at a normal play area. There is a slide, water table contraption, a sand box, and some wooden posts that kids were climbing on. The water table caught my attention because it was like a stair case of platforms that kids could manipulate and eventually lead the water to the flowers on the ground; kids were having fun while watering the plants. There were many sidewalks that made up many trails throughout the park. I went on a sidewalk route which took me by signs that told me all about the history of Tallahassee. I liked how educational this park was and how it was not just about fun but rather about showcasing the beautiful things in Tallahassee as well as the past of the city. I also saw a water pad for kids to play on, but at certain times the water pad turns into a fountain show. The fountain show was a cool addition to the park and I feel like it was really thought out. The park is an area that was made to flood if there is a huge rain storm. The park is basically a giant holding pond that they made into a beautiful park. Because of the many things to do here and the beauty of it I will be going back...

The park offers MANY amenities, such as an amphitheater, playgrounds, paved trails, storm-water ponds, free WiFi, a water spout park, a cafe, and a restaurant. There are even parts of the park that have some nice Floridian flora, and a small field for frisbee or kickball.
This park is nearly perfect. I just wish it had more of an emphasis on nature. It is overly done in my opinion. Almost to the point where it has an is dystopian feel. Entering the park from FAMU way, you cross over a bridge into the park. There are signs warning of surveillance in the park at all times, and an electronic board that has data on how many bikers and walkers have been in the park that day, and to date.
Blue lights on the bridge giving an eerie vibe doesn't help with the oddness of this feeling. Maybe this is just me, but after showing a few people this entrance, they have me similar comments. Almost kind of like the park shown in back to the future when Marty McFly rode on the hoverboard. But I guess that wouldn't be a terrible reputation to...
Read moreThe Boys and I definitely enjoy the area for running, bicycling and training. Weather has been beautiful with a great breeze. The Boys enjoy stopping for ice cream at the Power Plant, nice courteous staff. Met a few nice peeps to have great convo at a distance.
We go at a time when not many people are there for extreme social distancing but shake our heads at the ones that are not practicing safely when we see groups of 15-20 together.
Disappointed we were approached by a young caucasian male (works for the park) asking if we were together and family (4 of Us) not bothering anyone in our own space far from others when there were plenty not related caucasians doing exercise and not social distancing.
Unfortunately the world has not changed, I pray for the safety of my Boys that are Straight A students, volunteers in the community, respectful well disciplined Young Christian Black Men to stay prayerful and keep peace at all times because they never know when it will be them placed in a bad situation because they are black and questioned for following the rules...
