Besito Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Tampa

Honestly I never leave reviews but this incident i experienced dining here was absurd. I live near and was on a walk with my dog and decided to grab some lunch outside. Before coming in I checked to see if they accepted tap which I found that they did, great! Since I did not have my purse with me. As soon as I’m sat outside my waitress Carmen H was just simply rude and not friendly at all. No greeting no recommendations no conversation just staring at me waiting for me to order. Once I ordered she was gone. Even when my food came I wanted to get a drink other than water with my meal but it was too late. Who knows maybe I was a bother because I’m a 1 top with a low bill considering her behavior. I believe I had to ask a food runner for water for my pup as well. This lady only really came to check on me towards the end when I asked for to go boxes which again no words throughout my time there just constant walking away like she did to grab the to go boxes. As I just want to leave already and eat at home instead, I began to give her my phone for Apple Pay, finally she speaks and says “no tap card only“ and again walks away to another table..? Literally left me just sitting there so I’m now forced to go inside to find help and figure this out. I find the hostess maybe a manger and he also claims “No we don’t do that everywhere says that” and starts pointing at the physical copy of the menu to me. (As if i had the menu on my walk here) I begin to show him on my phone where it clearly shows the Apple Pay icon and tap to pay is located when you look up Besito on maps. If that’s the case have that taken off and changed. I also notice they have Toast which ironic I used to be in the restaurant industry as well and know Apple Pay is usually always supported with Toast. So right after that he grabs my phone and takes it to the POS system…Lo and behold Apple Pay works! She brings over my receipts to sign and says nothing at all and drops it on my table and walks away…absolutely terrible lol I was shocked. Like I said I used to be in the industry so I still tipped her a little over 20% anyone else would’ve absolutely gave $0 and is valid in this case. Who knows how many people they shy away from Apple Pay. Not sure unless staff isn’t trained to know of it. Needless to say I definitely will not dine here again based of this experience alone. My GF and I have been to Besito's several times over the past few months. We love sitting on the patio next to the fountain & even on warm evenings, under their pergola with the vines & fans it is very pleasant. We have been fortunate to enjoy excellent, courteous, friendly & professional customer service from a server name ‘Sarolta.’ Both times, she has made our experience that much more enjoyable with her friendliness, recommendations without pushing us towards a special, but rather listening to what we like and then offering choices from the specials, drink & food menus which might appeal to us. My GF has especially enjoyed several of the drink suggestions Sarolta has recommended. The food is very good. This past Sunday for dinner ... for our appetizers we enjoyed the table side guacamole along with ‘Salsa Trio’ with warm tortilla chips Red & Green Salsa and Queso cheese! For the main course, my GF had chicken quesadillas, which she very much enjoyed and took the leftovers home, which she normally doesn’t do & I had the ‘Surf & Turf’ Skewers which were served uniquely. One skewer with the grilled Steak & veggies & a second skewer of grilled Shrimp & veggies stuck into a large piece of pineapple with tomatillo sauce on the plate, so as you pull the food off the skewers it all mixes with the tomatillo sauce…very good! If there was a negative to our experience, we had a visit from a fairly rude, maybe curt or disinterested may be a better way to describe the manager-type (we did not get her name, she had long blonde hair and we saw her working behind the bar when we left) who stopped by our table to see if we were enjoying ourselves, but she did not stay long enough to even hear our answers & as we were trying to compliment our server, she mumbled something under her breathe and just walked away in mid-sentence…we were taken aback & commented to ourselves that while our server Sarolta was a very good representative/ambassador Besito’s… it is the actions/attitudes of the manager-type which casts a restaurant in a negative light and causes customers to not want to go back. I had a bad experience two days ago. I got there with a friend, she went up to the stand and they said about 10 mins. They never asked name or number, so we just stood near the stand. After 25 mins we notice people coming in after us getting tables. So we go up and they said we aren’t on the list because our name was never written down and it would be 30 mins before we could get a table. Frustrating but fine a mistake and we waiting for another 10 mins and eventually got seats at the bar. Drinks were great, quac and chips were great. Bartender recommended nachos with steak so I got that. It comes out in a big container with the pico, queso, salsa etc on the side. I don’t love queso and despite it clearly being put on the side, the guy picks up the queso and starts dumping it on the top of the steak. As he grabbed it I said wait no I don’t want that and he continued pouring it saying that’s how it is supposed to be. He then picks up the container so the chips spill out the bottom and everything is just covered in queso and a really gross mess. The bartender offers to get a new one but adds that it’ll take a bit of time. We didn’t have any extra time at that point after the long wait to sit and I said no, didn’t eat it and paid $65 for one drink, quac, and gross nachos that I didn't touch. If we were told 40 min wait, we would have left as we didn’t have a lot of time. But stayed because they said 10 mins and by the time the nachos came out, there was no options for a new one because of the extra wait time that we didn’t expect. The bartender was nice but everyone else was so rude. The host asked why we didn’t leave a name- we asked for a table of 2 and she said ok 10 mins - that was the initial interaction. It is not my job to know their system and not my fault she didn’t properly ask the name and put us on the list- yet when we went back up I felt like she was saying well this is your fault and...
