I had high hopes walking into this coffee shop, but unfortunately, the quality of the coffee didn’t live up to the price tag. I ordered a large latte—no syrups, no extras—and was immediately struck by how bitter the espresso tasted. It had the harsh, over-roasted flavor that lingers in the back of your throat, not the smooth, balanced profile you'd expect from a specialty coffee spot.
It’s possible the beans themselves are to blame—either low quality or roasted past the point of no return—but it could also be a poorly dialed-in espresso extraction. Either way, the result was disappointing. When you're charging over $6 for a basic latte, there’s a certain expectation for flavor and quality. Instead, it tasted more like something you’d get at a gas station: bitter, unrefined, and forgettable.
Whenever I'm in Miami, I stop at my favorite Cuban coffee place in Little Havana for at least one to enjoy while there and always leave with 1-2 bags of beans to use at home. When I inquired about the beans and was told it's Cuban coffee, I assumed the espresso would taste as good as I get at La Colada in Little Havana.

Read moreOnce I found this place using Google Maps, I was thrilled to see what others were raving about. Cafe Luna is well worth using the perfect Google Maps to discover a real, fresh, cooked-to-order Cuban-Mexican breakfast, snacks or lunch. The Cuban toast with butter, cheese or cheese and egg is melt-in-your mouth. Of course they have cafe con leche! They have a full menu of breakfast items, hot appetizers, sides, hot lunches and beverages. Eat-in or take-out. Inside is a delightful, warmly decorated cute little cafe with many tables and floor to ceiling glass windows overlooking the pond with fountain. You order at the counter, pay and then wait. I picked out a table next to the window and they brought out my water, then the breakfast to my table when done. Tricky to find but a sweet little hot & fresh...
