First, I have to admit that I have stayed here before with great satisfaction. Not sure how many times, but I have been here several over the past few years. I have always been satisfied with the facility. But things have changed.
The facility is starting to look tired, Usually crisp and clean, it is beginning to look like the staff is not paying the greatest attention to detail and the management is not replacing as needed items in customer rooms nor are they maintaining the appearance of the facility.
First, for those that have disability needs, the entire facility has 1 parking space for those needing assistance. Miss that one spot and you are looking at parking about 500ft away unless you want to climb into a dark elevator and then your distance is reduced to well, 500ft away. I questioned the distance and was told that the facility meets all ADA requirements. Interesting the corporation has decided to place 7 Diamond Member parking spaces within 150ft of the main entrance. I guess money does talk.
You can see from the pictures, the grand girl is not so grand before. The numbers in the elevator are smeared, perhaps from some too toxic cleaners or just from poor quality coloring, In my room there were specks all on the light on the desk that kinda looked like a food fight had happened but never been cleaned. Of course I could not sit at the deck because the chair was perhaps the nastiest chair I have ever seen in a hotel room in some 50 years of traveling. It was disgusting. The end table by the couch looked as if it were in need of replacement, but it also looked as if coffee or something had been spilled and it too had been poorly cleaned.
But the Grand Finale of the trip was awaking on Monday morning and feeling something on my arm which I shook off and discovered a black bug on the white bedspread. So I decided to flick it off the covers and the thing exploded leaving blood on the bed spread. I thought to myself not that is interesting, what the heck is it? So I got up and found the body of the little creature and have posted it here for you to see. I admit I had no idea what it was, but was later informed by someone smarter than me that it was in fact a BEDBUG and that the blood on the spread was mine!
Heard of them, never seen them, never experienced them, but dang. I did some reading and discovered that they even carry illness (I have been six for 3 days since my trip).
In defense of the hotel, I did speak with someone there who was extremely nice and appeared to be very remorseful of the entire thing. I do not know if he even knew what type of bug it was. But he was nice.
I just hope this place gets its act together again. Otherwise it is Marriott,...
Read moreWhen I arrived at your Hotel in Tampa, I wore an expensive sports coat and button down shirt which I hung in the closet for a ceremony I didn’t have until the weekend. When I went to check out, I forgot to check the closet, and left without the clothing items. Knowing I did this, I immediately called the front desk after I hit the check out button on your mobile app to ensure they could secure my coat since I had just checked out minutes before. I even told them I could be back later that same day to secure my items. They told me they’d look for my items and call me as soon as they found them, and I thought that the issue would be resolved rather easily. Hours went by, and I did not receive word of them finding anything, which I found strange considering the promptness of my call after check out. I called a second time, asking if they had found my items, and they said they were still looking. It was at this moment that I knew I should check for myself. I drove over to your hotel, and asked the front desk for a third time if they’d found my items I’d left. They said they would check. The front desk worker went up to the room Id been in, came back down and said the room had been cleaned already and the items were gone- roughly 5 hours after I’d checked out. Obviously the room was going to be cleaned, and in this case, emptied, by then. They then told me to wait 20 minutes until the housekeeping staff ended their rounds to see if they’d picked anything up on their carts. I told them I couldn’t wait, and if they found my items after the housekeeping staff came down, to call me immediately. An hour passed, and I did not receive a call. I called back, a fourth time, and they said they'd not found anything.
The point is, I arrived at your establishment, and on the first day, I hung my clothes and didn’t touch them during the duration of my stay. They were in that room the day I left, and when I returned to retrieve them, they were gone.
I do not want to point fingers- this is not the reason for this rating. Customer service goes a long way in this business, and I believe your establishment did not meet expectations to secure my items after I’d called immediately. I’m not numb to your situation- I understand your hotel is probably short staffed and over worked. But to take 30 seconds to go up an elevator to a room to grab clothes after my first initial call wouldn’t have taken much effort- about a minute in my estimation. For the sake of other patrons staying at your establishment, please ensure you have their trust in your best interest, because you have lost mine, and I will not...
Read moreWe stayed in Room 404. We were very impressed by the sound proofing against aircraft traffic at the airport, the amenities provided (including the breakfast), and other things you'd expect from a higher class lodging facility such as this. However, we had a number of issues we did not feel were properly addressed. At 5:00am, the smoke alarm started going off without a reason that we could find. Maintenance came by but appeared disinterested in exchanging common pleasantries and did not speak to us. He removed the battery but did not verify the issue was corrected before leaving. It continued to beep. The front desk was contacted and they did not appear to be able to get into communication with them as they stated, "I believe he is looking for a battery." He later returned and removed the entire smoke detector assembly, again without communicating with us, and left. We were concerned because while the annoyance of the beeping was remedied, we now did not have a smoke detector to help keep us safe. As an older woman, early warning is crucial for me to escape a potentially life threatening situation. Lastly, housekeeping came by at about 8:00 am on our second day there. They knocked once and before we could open the door, they just walked in. We share partial blame in this because we did not turn the deadbolt ensuring no one else but us could enter. We told housekeeping to give us about 30 minutes and she obliged but when we returned we found they never returned. However, a new smoke detector did appear and we were grateful for that. We contacted the front desk again as we were out of toilet paper and were out of fresh towels as, interestingly, there was no designated place to hang them for them to dry. The front desk employee appeared confused as to how to problem solve for the situation and stated that she could not give us towels because housekeeping had left for the day. All over, the hotel is nice, clean and efficient but there appears to be a significant flaw in their ability to communicate across...
