I'm giving a 3 because I did love the atmosphere and ambiance of Miguel's and will give them another shot someday, but our first visit was kind if a fail. The level of service and my dinner, at least, were sub-par and many odd things occurred during our meal. Not worth the amount of money that I paid. Our server 1st asked if we'd like an appetizer (drinks are usually the first thing requested?) and then we actually got our appetizers BEFORE our drinks which was just water....more on that later. So, one of the appetizers he offered was guac-which was very fresh and delicious, I said yes we'll take that too. He brought out a large which...if there are various sizes he should ask which size we want..not just assume. Especially since it was a $13 guac....not cheap at all when we just wanted a little one to go with the other very large appetizer we ordered. We didnt finish it all either and most of it was thrown away which is such a waste. So, back to the waters....He literally gave us all waters and walked away without even asking for our drink orders AFTER we got our appetizers. I'm sure u can agree...this is odd? My husband's drink also sat empty sat unnoticed often throughout the meal unfortunately. Like we saw him go to another large party and proceed to take their entire order while we sat with our appetizers BEFORE he got our drink orders? Again...odd. The main problem I encountered was my meal though. I was in the mood for a nice juicy steak and I ordered their "best/basically most expensive meal." A $35 steak. I ordered it medium. It came out burnt on one side like maybe it had been sitting on the edge of the grill. I checked the thick part of steak too and it was definitely med-well. (By the way, I was a server for years when I was younger, so I know the correct cook on a steak.) It was also served with a plain baked potato no butter or anything and the server did not offer any toppings. I mentioned the steak was overcooked to server and he asked if I like grilled food???? As if that was the problem. I mean...obviously I like grilled steak or I wouldn't have ordered it. So, the manager, who was very nice btw, was apologizing and trying to make up for it and i guess they were rushing bcuz the next steak that came out was 100% medium rare. I mean, deeeep red, like almost purple. At this point, I just ate the edges and called it a day. He did offer all the toppings for my potato though so that was good. Also, he must have forgotten to order my daughter's meal bcuz everyone had their food but her and she sat for a very long time watching everyone else eat. The server came out mentioning my steak would come soon and I had to tell him my daughter never got her food as he had not noticed. Everyone else's food looked delicious I will say and my husbands seafood enchilada was definitely delicious. Another odd thing happening was the server had asked if we spoke Spanish or if we were Spanish as he was obvi Latin. My husband's Cuban, which I mentioned, and I told him that he was the only one that spoke Spanish out of my whole party, but throughout the entire meal he continue to speak Spanish to me and my family? So I had absolutely no idea what he was saying most of the time as he did sometimes speak English, which I again thought was very odd. The last odd thing (as you can see there were many) was we had a birthday in our group and I mentioned this and asked if I could see a dessert menu and awhile later he brought out two desserts and I know he was trying to be nice as he said "this is for the table & it's on the house for all the issues" and that's great and all, but my daughter and I have been looking forward to ordering some cool desserts and they never brought dessert menus and so we never got to choose any?? My daughter and I didn't like either of the deserts they brought out so that was very disappointing. I mean, we werent given the option of selecting the desserts we actually wanted which again...is odd? At any rate, we just called it a day. It was just a very odd and kind of an underwhelming...
Read moreI have always loved Miguel’s but the experience I had last night 12/14/24 will keep me from returning. I came with a group of friends for my best friends birthday and we had Louis as a server. Louis decided to treat everyone in the group great, except for me! At first I thought I was overthinking it but then my friends mentioned how rude he was being to me. He spoke rudely to me a multitude of times when I was speaking to him normally and thanking him the whole time. He got upset that I ordered a drink different from everyone else’s and then proceeds to bring me the wrong drink. I corrected him because I didn’t like the drink he brought out and he was very obviously annoyed with me and snatched the drink away. It took another 10 minutes for me to get my drink while my friends all almost finished theirs. He would attend to my friends and fill their waters the whole time and never fill mine up or ask if I needed anything like he would my friends. The final kicker of everything was when we went to pay. Again, he was very nice and thankful to my friends and let them take their time paying. When it came to my turn, he SNATCHED my card out of my hand. My friends were shocked and really wanted to say something but at this point I just wanted to leave because I felt so uncomfortable. My friend also asked where the bathrooms where and he said in a very smart ass way “behind you” and scurried off never to be seen again. I would also like to mention that his service is so slow, we were almost there for 2.5 hours and this ruined our other plans we had after dinner. It took us a half hour to get the check, we felt like we were being held captive. The food was pretty mid and the drinks lacked flavored and were obviously watered down. Very disappointed because I’ve always loved Miguel’s and had Louis as a server a few...
Read moreAhoy mateys! Gather 'round and hear a tale of a treasure trove I plundered recently, not of gold or jewels, but of the most delightful vittles! Miguel's Mexican Seafood & Grill, it be called, and a finer port for a hungry buccaneer I have not seen in many a moon.
The moment we hauled our weary bones through the door, a friendly lass named Keagan greeted us with a smile warmer than the Mayan sun. Aye, she be attentive and swift, keeping our tankards overflowing with grog and our plates piled high with bounty.
Speaking of bounty, the fajitas! These succulent morsels of meat were charred to perfection, their flavor singin' a sea shanty on me tongue. Juicy and tender, they melted in me mouth like a doubloon in a miser's hand.
Now, I be a man with a hearty appetite, but even the heartiest pirate needs a sweet finish to their voyage. And let me tell ye, the Tres Leches cake at Miguel's be the very siren song of desserts. Delicious and light, it weren't overly sweet, but just enough to send shivers of delight down me gullet.
The place itself be bustling with activity, a true testament to its quality. Yet, despite the throng of hungry souls, the staff remained shipshape and ever so friendly. Clean as a freshly swabbed deck, the entire restaurant had a warm and inviting atmosphere.
So there ye have it, me hearties! If ye be sailin' the seas around Tampa Bay and yer belly be rumblin', look no further than Miguel's Mexican Seafood & Grill. Ye won't be disappointed! Just be sure to tell 'em One-Eyed...
