Maria's Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Taos

I can't rate the restaurant because what seen yesterday the small mgr. treated the waitresses so bad he yell in front of customers put her down because he says she for got some items on our plate we ordered my plate was fish and chip which so burned I couldn't even eat this fried it was burned and to go was combination plate which enchiladas was forgotten he started yell in kitchen where we could all hear he was blaming her, not unless she was cook our whole cost over 80. 00 .This short mgr. was very rude and mean to this young lady that waitresses .I'm from Rio Rancho New Mexico visiting Toas but I will not eat at this place not unless service from short mgr leaves and food is better cooked .I am sending this to better business . Midafternoon on a Saturday doesn’t exactly help create a great atmosphere BUT we went for the food. Actually the atmosphere was fine and we enjoyed the setting very much. The food ranged from good to great. The chips and salsa came with a warning that the red was spicy. It was but also tasty. The green was very tasty with a hint of spicy.

Deb’s tacos were delicious as were the calabacitas that came with them. I had fish and chips in a substantial amount. The cod was breaded in flour and panko mixture that was very crispy and crunchy. I thought the fish was a little bland but the red salsa added to the tartar sauce took care of that. The chips were freshly fried and quite long.

Plenty of food, freshly prepared and good to eat. Looking forward to...

Food is phenomenal but as someone who has worked there unfortunately the management isn’t so friendly. It seems to be family owned and very one sided standards when it comes to staff. Holding someone’s tips to have a conversation is not okay, neither is the way you talk to your staff. Putting rules on what you can and can’t talk about with your fellow friends is also strange behavior. Multiple people have quite over the little months I was there specifically because of the manager there, (won’t be adding names for legal and privacy reasons).
