My visit to Dimitri's last Sunday evening started promisingly with a sunset dinner. The establishment exuded sophistication, from impeccable service to exquisite food presentation and outstanding quality. However, what could have been an exceptional dining experience was marred by a significant oversight: the presence of a patron's dog inside the restaurant.

Let's start with the positives. Dimitri's ambiance is delightful, especially during sunset hours, making it an ideal spot for a relaxed evening meal. The service was attentive, and the dishes served were not only well-presented but also delicious, reflecting the care put into their preparation.

Unfortunately, the evening took an unexpected turn when a diner decided to bring their dog into and through the restaurant. This action, in my view, was disrespectful to the other patrons. Dining at a fine establishment entails a certain level of decorum and consideration for fellow diners. While pets are cherished companions, there's a time and place for their presence, and a high-end restaurant during dinner service isn't it.

The intrusion of the dog detracted from the otherwise enjoyable atmosphere. It's not merely an issue of personal preference; it's also a matter of hygiene and etiquette. Patrons paying premium prices for their meals, as my companion and I were, expect a certain standard of dining environment—one that doesn't include unexpected encounters with animals.

To be clear, this isn't solely about the dog itself but rather the principle of respecting the dining space and the experience of all guests. Dining out is a social activity that should be enjoyable for everyone present, and that includes being considerate of others' preferences and sensitivities.

Regrettably, Dimitri's apparent acceptance of this situation suggests a lapse in their standards and consideration for their patrons. As a result, despite the otherwise commendable aspects of our visit, my companion and I have decided not to return to Dimitri's. It's disappointing that such a simple oversight could overshadow an otherwise pleasant evening and lead to the loss of potential future patrons.

In conclusion, while Dimitri's offers much to appreciate, the unfortunate incident involving a patron's dog has left a lasting negative impression. For those who value a serene dining atmosphere free of unexpected distractions, this is a factor worth considering before choosing Dimitri's for your next dining experience unless they enact a dogs not...

My family and I eat out a lot, so with that being said...I'd like to think we are experienced. If I could rate this restaurant a 0, I wouldn't hesitate. Visited Dimitri's yesterday to celebrate my husbands birthday. We had a party of 7. Our waiter, Michaelangelo approached our table to take our order. He did not introduce himself or ask if we would like to order drinks or appetizers. He went right to placing our food order. We inquired about a few items on the menu and with every question, he got more and more frustrated. We ordered appetizers and adult beverages, to which the description he gave us did not match what we received. When appetizers arrived, they arrived one at a time by 4 different individuals. Upon arriving, the staff would just approach table and announce which appetizer it is, when we either didn't hear or understand, staff would roll their eyes and just go ahead and shifts things on the table and drop. So rude! Now on to the entrees....we received part our orders, those that come with salads as a side, came much later than the actual entree. Of course, it required reminding the waiter. When reminded, he seemed upset with us for asking.

Food was just mediocre

Gyro sandwich does not come with fries...fries must be ordered separately. If want fries with your meal, you'll have to order the gyro platter.....what a gimmick. The lamb entree came out swimming in water..gross looking as hell. I can go on and on. Now to the finale....we waited and waited to ask the waiter for our bill. He passed our table numerous times and we could not get his attention. When he finally returned, he came with the bill for the table. I asked if that was the bill for the whole table and he said yes. I informed him that we need to split the bill. He replied, "You never said anything"...to which I replied, you never asked". He then said, " we never ask"! He then said he will be back to fix. We waited again and when he finally returned, he called off everything on the bill to better identify whose it is to better split...What a fiasco...

The overall experience was not a good one to say the least. We will never return. Oh and what restaurants don't do offer a mere dessert for the birthday individual. It was my husband's birthday! How unfortunate that a restaurant facing the water could not come with a better experience. There are too many choices, this should not be...

One of my friends and I were out at the Sponge Docks, and stopped here to eat. We're both teens, and most everyone else eating here were middle aged or older. I do not know if that is why we were treated the way we were but it was the only thing my friend and I could figure out. Firstly when we entered, the man who ended up being our server, said in an uninterested and bothered tone, "Do you guys need something?" We weren't really expecting this kind of greeting but we, originally, weren't going to think much of it and responded, "we would like to get seated, please." He then said "oh, okay. How many?" as he rolled his eyes. We said it was just the two of us and he seated us. Again, we didn't really want to think too hard about it and just hoped the food would be good and we would be served like everyone else. Looking around it seemed like they served bread baskets like most the other restaurants in the sponge docks. So when our server came back with the drinks we ordered, we were expecting a bread basket as well. He did not bring one so I asked if they served bread here, he proceeded to say that it is an extra cost that we would have to order as a side. I found this a bit unexpected, and after he walked away I decided to ask one of the other servers walking by. She said that they do in fact serve bread, and not as a side. I asked her if she could bring us some, she then said that our server is supposed to come with the bread for us. Not wanting to cause any trouble, I did not inform her of what our server said. At this point my friend and I just wanted to eat and leave. We ordered a gyro each, and when our server came over with them they looked good. Unfortunately, turns out they were a bit on the oily side, and I've personally never had a gyro that oily. It was dripping all over my hands and plate. My friend was pretty disappointed too, as they personally really love gyros. They agreed with me, that the gyro was oily and tasted off. I don't know if it was just a bad day, or if this is how it usually is. Personally I do not wish to eat...
