I have to say I did not notice the name of this place. We were planning to visit Tarpon Springs so I did a Google "drive" down this street from street view on Google maps and spotted this little walk up window on the water gem. Thank the universe!
This was the BEST gyro we have ever had! I wasn't going to write a review, (we wanted this spot as our own find, but I have to give kudos where kudos is deserved. Our gyro was STUFFED with the tastiest lamb/gyro meat sliced off the spit, a fat, fresh pita was tough, yet tender, enough to handle the tzatziki sauce was thick, not that runny stuff I have experienced over and over again, and the onion lettuce, and tomato seemed to have been sliced to order, (the tomato was the most perfectly ripe; without being over ripe, that I have seen on my plate EVER. I have worked in the restaurant industry over 20 yrs, and my husband is a chef for as many years and we were both impressed with this little slice of Greek Heaven. We sat outside on the water with a front row seat to the Greek sponge boats and off the sidewalk and they brought our food to our table.
As I mentioned at the beginning I am not sure of the name, but I am sure of the location. If you are ever in Tarpon Springs this is the place to have a hunger/taste satisfying, reasonably priced Greek, pita sandwich, (they have more than gyro), this...
Read moreThe good: Food was really good. My son said the shrimp was fresh; my other son said his hamburger was super good; my daughters loved the Greek Salad and garlic fries and my husband and I loved the Greek chicken pita. The bad: Lady at counter has HORRIBLE attitude. The man in front of me walked up and said "Hello, how are you?" Her response "Busy. What do you want?" and seemed irritated. She had a tip jar where a dollar was falling out near the window, my husband told her it was going to fly away. He grabbed it rudely and slammed it on the dish. She told us to make sure two people come to pick up food when called, as she could not help. Problem....we sat on the side and there is no intercom to hear her calling our name. She walked out annoyed. We met her and took the food. My husband told her it smelled amazing to which she snorted and walked off. As good as the food is, I refuse to give my hard earned money to a business that treats its customers as if they are expendable. I will try the Greek bakery across the...
Read moreWe were here for the weekend doing a craft show and we always look for a great places to eat in every town we visit. We had lunch at a local popular restaurant yesterday and weren’t really impressed with the gyros.
Today we decided to try The Limani based on reviews we read here. And the prices seemed fair.
Between us, we had the chicken kebab plate, a Gyro pita, and a small Greek salad. The salads were very fresh and generous portions. The chicken kebab was well seasoned and the Greek fries were very good. The Gyro pita was huge! The meat was very tasty and fresh, as were the veggies and tzatziki sauce. The “small“ salad was also huge and fresh.
You won’t be disappointed if you decide to eat here. We had take away, but there are tables outside on the riverfront.
The only hitch I experienced was that they only take cash and I had a card. I went to the nearest ATM and by the time I got back my...
