Turtle Island Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Tarpon Springs

My wife and I wanted some seafood and maybe an appetizer or two. OK I wanted the seafood and she wanted some appetizers. When we arrived the place appeared like a big house with stairs until we pulled around the front. The front of the building looks like King Kong meets a Tahitian night club (Awesome). We walked around the pool area and spyed the pool side bar. Plenty of shade and tables to sit at but the Mrs. wanted some A/C so up the stairs we went. After some respiratory therapy ( only kidding) We opened up a set of French doors to the main bar and restaurant and Heather was standing behind the bar with a smile on her face. She greeted us and brought us some menus. I spent my summers on Fire Island at The O B.I South the home of the original Long Island Ice Tea. When they are made right there is nothing better. Heather did them right. My wife had a blue something which she loved and the drinks were tall ones! Perfect! Their is a very expensive competitor of theirs that offers a marinaded sirloin tip appetizer that we love so we chose that. IT WAS BETTER. My wife had the Fred Flintstone size Greek Salad with fresh pita bread and the potato salad to die for at the bottom. No skimp on the Feta and the dressing was perfect. I had a blackened Grouper sandwich with fresh coleslaw inside a lettuce wedge. KILLER If you haven't been there, what are you waiting for. Thanks Heather for the hospitality! My wife and I decided to try this new place since we regularly eat in Tarpon Springs and most restaurants have been amazing. Unfortunately, we cannot say the same for this place. The food was just ok, but the service was absolutely awful.

It has a great vibe to it with the pool and open courtyard and seems to be more of a place to drink than eat, so it does have promise.

My wife had the fish and she said it was very dry with no flavor and I had the burger, which wasn't bad, but nothing great either.

The service was the worst part. Our waitress didn't take our drink order for maybe 10 minutes, then took another 10 minutes to come back for our food order. And once we received our food, that was it, we never saw her again. I had to go inside to track her down for the check and she was hanging out behind the bar with 3 other servers (and there were only a couple patrons inside).

I would recommend one of the other great restaurants in the area, as their food and service are on a completely...

On my wife's birthday yesterday I would have thought the bartender would at least buy her a shot/beer but it was nice that the guy next to me did... I really wanted to love the mahi stuffed with crab special until it arrived and it was just a piece of mahi on top of a crab cake I can't speak for my wife but the protein bowl she ordered she said was disgusting & cold.
