This quaint little park is an absolute gem! Nestled in a charming neighborhood, it offers a refreshing escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. The surrounding houses add a unique allure to the area, as they look like they belong to another era or even a different part of the world altogether. These homes are not just buildings; they're exquisite pieces of art, meticulously constructed in the early 1900s. Their architectural details, from intricate woodwork to grand facades, evoke a sense of nostalgia and timeless beauty that you rarely see today.
Walking through the park, you can't help but feel like you've been transported to a bygone era. The mature trees and well-maintained pathways only add to the charm, creating a peaceful and picturesque setting. It's the perfect spot for a leisurely stroll, a quiet read, or even a family picnic.
What I love most about this park is how it seamlessly blends natural beauty with historical elegance. Every visit feels like a new adventure, as there's always some small detail or hidden corner to discover. Whether you're an architecture enthusiast or simply someone who appreciates the finer things in life, this park offers an enriching experience that leaves a lasting impression. I...
ย ย ย Read moreThe beach/sand used to get grated every morning, just 2 short years ago, the water and sand were gorgeous & easily comparable to ๐๐ฆ๐๐ด๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐ ๐Clearwater beach for sure!!. As of today, the piles of seaweed were clearly in 3 or more stages, old dried up piles 2. newer__ old piles drying, ETC. ,,,, along with new being washed up every minute. All piles have reached the full length of the beach. This was exactly the same as 2017 summer. Not to mention all of the sand pricker plants growing naturally in the areas with no seaweed. SMH. SAD. Why is it being neglected? have no clue. Sand is hard, and feels rocky!!! Many of us, (regulars) have talked about emailing the county parks department. The last time I did, 2017 ,,,it was beautiful again within 2 to 3 days. I am guessing they need to be emailed, called or somehow contacted to maintain their park? It's seriously in ridiculous condition, SO MANY patrons there have diabetes, arthritis, etc. It's very painful!! Of course is worse to walk on the "sand". I do Love Howard park enough to say something though. Sad to see the deteriation from lack of maintenance there. Cuc๐ค๐๐...
ย ย ย Read moreCraig park, located very near downtown Tarpon Spings is a great option to stroll the banks of the bayou in the colder months. You will see manatee and possibly dolphins in late November thru late February as the manatee seek warmer waters to shelter from the colder waters of the gulf. The earlier you can arrive is the best time but the manatee will always be there even in the afternoon. Once done with manatee viewing itโs a 5 minute stroll into downtown Tarpon Springs where you will find restaurants, shops and amusements with some good old Florida kitch. Look out for the many old Victorian homes surrounding the bayou and even in the downtown area. Also the sponge docks are minutes away by car and are definitely worth a visit with many quirky shops and restaurants along the water and really good Greek food and culture. Itโs a fun day trip for anyone looking for something different and...
