I had to give only 3 stars, and would have given only one star, if it weren't for the other staff. Today I had the worse person I have ever , in my 53 years , ever dealt with , and qith all my years of dining, at a restaurant. I could not believe it. It was horrendous.i will say more at the end. First, I wish to commend, and state that I am very appreciative of the two, very lovely ,caring, personable, waitresses, who I usually have when I go to the Golden Coral. Teresa, AKA Tia, and Tecia. They present the type of courtesy I expect from the brand, having been in the service industry for years I know quality when I see it. These servers have quality. Today, on Wed, December 20th, my husband, and I, decided to go to the Golden Coral, as we were doing some shopping hobby lobby, and such. We cross the border from Canada, looking forward to a nice dinner at the Golden Coral. I make a point of knowing, and greeting the staff. It has a family atmosphere. Today I met Tyler on steak, very eager to help, and courteous. A sweet hardworking man. I appreciate this. I appreciate kindness. Today after getting tea, speaking with the very friendly, and inviting , clerk, we went in with our ice tea and picked a table. My husband and I are in our 50s. My husband is a very sweet man. I realized I forgot my straws, and he got up, and fetched them, after waiting awhile, and grabbed some forks also. There was no one there so we thought it would be ok. A woman waitress came out of nowhere, at that moment,he meanest women I ever crossed in this industry just inflamed like a bloody hemroid, hyper agitated, and very unmannerly. There are ways to talk to people, and there are. ways not to. She actually yelled at my husband. She Said, "This is my space, you need to stay out of my space, and I will get it for you when I can. Alright??!! Just stay out of my space! Do you understand?! Just stay out of my space ...!". She said more, but it was the delivery. I felt very centered out and thought her raised voice, and demeanor ,was totally uncalled for. She could have of handled this much better. PROFESSIONALLY. It was very bullish. SHE WAS LIKE A BULLY .She kept staring me down after this, Trying to intimidate me. I didn't feel safe. I didn't enjoy my meal or my food. How could we, every time she passed it was like the breath of satan passing lol The people at the other table were talking about her and we swapped stories, and in the middle of my conversation,as they were now standing, she started again, yelling at us , validating the present conversation, litterally yelling, even more agitated than before, and threatening to kick us out over a plate that was placed on the table alongside us. We just wanted to eat in peace. This was over the top ridiculous and I honestly don't think this woman is stable. I dont care what her problems are , it's not my problems. She shouldn't take it out on me or my husband. She could have discussed things civilly. Like a person. Not like this, she ruined our dinner.
I found out her name and it is Keyshia, and n3xt time I go to the Golden Coral, and she is there, I am never coming back and it has been a routine. No one should be yelled at, bullied, or talked to that way when they are out for dinner. It was suppose to be a nice experience.
The reason I gave 3 stars is because of the saving grace of Teecia, a waitress we had twice before, and absolutely adore. She is attentive, and everythibg you expect from someone in this position. She was quick to address my needs, and took over our table. Executive skills there. You should be proud of her. Real proud
Well, just wanted to share our story, and I hope it reaches the eyes of someone in charge. Keyshia is putting a bad face on your brand. She needs coaching, or a professional , or to be shown the door. I just know our ritual of going there will end if I see her again. I never had a problem like this at any restaurant , or with your other servers. Such as Tecia and Teresa aka Tia .
Maybe, you can put Keyshia in the kitcchen, away...
Read moreI would like to preface this: I am not normally one to complain, however my experience at the Golden Corral was truly disappointing.
My spouse and I live across the border from Detroit in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. We made a trip to Taylor, MI on Saturday, November 23rd 2024 and after spending the day running errands, we were quite starved and were looking up restaurants to dine at. We are not picky nor fancy eaters and after reading several reviews on google, we decided that the Golden Corral in Taylor, Michigan would be the spot - 3.8 stars out of 5,000 reviews seemed reasonable, especially with a price of $17.99 per person. I was quite excited to eat here as it was reminiscent of my childhood going to "Hometown Buffet" in California where I grew up and once we entered, it was the exact same atmosphere so my hopes were pretty high. The young lady at the cash register was kind and while it was quite busy, we found a booth by the window. Our first impression was, "this place is pretty rundown", but we decided to overlook this and sit down. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and appeared to be the only professional employee working that night, I believe her name was Stephanie. We brought back our first plate which consisted of fried chicken, an assortment of seafood, salad, and a very suspicious looking type of meat. The fried chicken was very greasy and it was clear the fryer grease that was used had not been replaced in quite some time. The fried shrimp was the best dish out of all of the different items we tried as it appeared to have been fried in newer oil. The suspicious looking type of meat - and I say suspicious since the identification tag was missing - ended up being fried liver in batter which we unfortunately found out by taking a bite; having known what it was, we probably would not have opted for it. Which brings me to my next point, the ID tags for labeling the different items were either non-existent or mixed up so we weren't sure what we were putting on our plates at times. Next, this brings me to the pizza. Normally pizza is a safe bet and we wanted to play it safe, however even that was difficult to consume; we found it sub par and remarked that we had, had far better frozen pizzas at home. After eating all of the prepared food, we decided that we had to try the famous signature sirloin steak. The attendant had a consistent 1-2 ft flame on the grill since we arrived, which basically turned the outside of the meat into charcoal. At one point we almost found it comedic that the flame was left unattended for most of the time we were there. Also, the meat tasted of char from lack of cleaning the grill which made the steaks almost inedible. Dessert, I was hoping I could fill up on as I have a very sweet tooth. I walked past most of the items which was very out of character for me. I settled for one miniature sugar cookie, which my spouse had to finish for me as I could not continue eating it. We also had to dispense soft serve ice cream onto a dinner plate as there were no bowls or ice cream cones available. Another note to add, the low mix indicators were flashing, showing a lack of attention to the status of this area. Lastly, most of the food was so salty, we both have never found the need to drink so much water following a meal. After leaving this establishment, my spouse experienced immediate upset stomach and diarrhea which is a rare occurrence for him. We are typically very frugal in dining out and the odd time we decided to splurge, we were very...
Read moreThis is one of the best locations I have been to it's nice and peacefully not too crowded when I went. I would suggest getting there before 4 but after 3 to get that lunch price for your dinner meal which starts at 4pm. If you want lunch you could come in after 12pm. Their lunch menu is pointless to me they had the same thing out but added steak, roast, ribs etc. I ended up getting a bunch of sides they had no pizza this day which I really wanted and didn't understand why. The food was pretty good, desserts not so much they were ok. I love that this location has a slushie machine, The ice cream machine worked just fine compared to the Westland location It was just horrible. They didn't have many options to put on the ice cream which was surprising they had marshmallows, and nuts. I didn't try any cake on the dessert side where it was very slow replacing empty food pans I spent an hour and a half here. Bathrooms were decent. I removed a star for this reason upon exiting the vending machine which is pictured, me my husband, daddy and kids decided to play it. Swiped our card it would give us five tries to get a stuffed animal we were having fun with so we continued to keep trying and only ended up getting one It's pretty rigged up. Upon leaving we spent about $20+ on the vending machine which gave us 5 tries per $1.50. LEFT WENT HOME NEXT DAY WE SAW THAT THEY ENDED UP CHARGING $5 DOLLARS PER EVERY TIME WE PLAYED . The basically charged up $50 it was not our fought this machine glitched. Avoid using cards on the machine if you decide to play.. Lastly this location doesn't have a chocolate fountain, no Carmel or chocolate etc for ice cream their dessert side is ok didn't have many fruit options out . A plus is they do have gloves 🧤 on the walls you can grab while fixing your food. They didn't have the good bread rolls I wanted idk what bread was that they had out it looked old and hard. My onion rings slapped (which means it was good) I spent $65 for 3 adults 2kids. I bring my own utensils to public restaurants. It's best to keep some sandwich bags in your purse when coming; if you know you know . No vegan options fr.
