Charro Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Taylorville

This place has gone downhill recently and it's a shame. The staff is pretty nice and provide good service. But today I had a bad experience with the shrimp. Ordered shrimp tacos and ate em all. I noted that they were watery and not in a good way. Another person who was with me had the shrimp fajita and noticed the same thing. Now our stomachs don't feel very good. Probably undercooked shrimp, because we were the only ones in our party that had it and everyone else feels fine.

There have been another handful of times where the food has been disappointing, like things coming out lukewarm. I really like this place and wanna see it succeed but I can't keep going here if it makes...

Food here tasted good but was in small portions and expensive.

One good point I did see was that the place was pretty well cleaned up and tables that were open were already set up with silverware.

Unfortunately the service was poor. It took us 40 minutes for them to finally take our orders (they at least kept giving us chips and salsa but not enough salsa for us to have per basket). They also didn't do a great job refilling our drinks. We had a reservation as well so I'm surprised they took so long. The place wasn't even that busy. The experience also doesn't feel that authentic being in such a big building.

Huge venue with great food! The restaurant is nicely decorated, very clean, and quick to serve you. The food is always good and served very quickly upon ordering. I jump around the menu but recently I got the burrito del Rey and needless to say a take out box was not needed 😄 my boyfriend got chicken with chorizo and loved it.
