It’s 11:20PM on a Saturday night and according to Google’s hours of operations; this location isn’t supposed close for another 4 minutes (12AM). However, when arriving; both myself and another car of potential customers were turned away one after another. Driving by, it looked as if they were already closed to begin with because of the majority of the locations lights being off, but I noticed a group gathering of young adult men with sports cars in the parking lot congregating amongst each other with their DQ’ purchases and so I figured that I would still drive in and make an attempt too purchase something myself. Unfortunately, upon walking up to the countertop; no one was there to greet me, but a sign that stated “Ring Bella for Service,” was posted on the order window. I then proceeded to ring the bell and heard from a far, “We’re closed!” I stated to the young man working that Google’s days/hours states that this location closes at 12AM; rather than 11PM and he replied that “The hours have changed because of school.” Understandable, but it’s the weekend and so that statement is irrelevant due to the fact that this isn’t during the week, but rather on the weekend. That said, either DQ’s employee this evening was a lier and closed early to leave with his friends for the evening (which he did) and/or this location needs to contact Google regarding this conflict on hours/operations. Had this not been the case; this location would’ve gotten another two cars full of people and/or orders within the last half hour of business and that’s a lot of business for the end of the night/closing...
Read moreThe classic DQ setup, perfect for a pitstop with the family in the late afternoon as a snack of their famous soft serve. I've been in Teaneck 25 years, and when my kids were toddlers this was a big excitement for them. Frankly the prices are steep but they are in a dying type of business and only have the warm weather months to operate. No seating, no bathrooms, you hang out front standing around, hoping your kid doesn't drop his/her ice cream. I sit back in my car with the doors open or in the AC if it's a scorcher. Like drive in movies, this is made for mini vans. It's near a major access to I-95, so it could be a lot busier, but it's a long block away from the main drag, just out of sight so mostly it's a secret of the locals. This is not a "Grill", so the hot foods in the TV ads are not here.
Just be ready for the prices. Their Blizzard specialties run at least 5 bucks for the smallest sizes. A family of four can easily drop 25 bucks. On the weeks when the supermarket has two for five dollar half gallons, or worse, 3 for 10 Haagen Daas it might hurt by comparison but hey, you can't beat being the hero parent to swing by there on impulse when the family is ending a day out. I used to provide transportation for my kids' friends too, that scores major points with them socially to treat their BFFs . Just make sure the littlest ones don't wander around - cars are pulling in and out constantly and you can pull tight up to the building. Try it out, it's one of the last glimpses of the perks of the old quiet...
Read moreWas looking forward to having a banana split, the young gentleman helping me, was very nice until we ran into a problem. With gentleman in brown shirt, did not have problem paying for extras. My suppose to be banana split, all my years of coming to Teaneck Dairy Queen, worst banana split I have ever had. The container has change, I don't eat strawberries and didn't want pineapples, so I gave other options and had to pay for one. Looked at my sundae/banana split and saw my toppings was very limited and spoke with nasty attitude gentleman in brown shirt. About just a little more carmel and wet walnuts, he told me there would be a charge for something I already paided for, he saw my sundae/ banana split. So he gave me dry walnuts and I just looked at him and smiled. Its just the beginning of summer for him, will let the people...
