We didn't stay at the Inn, this is a review on the coffee shop and food.
The coffee is really good!! I will say, I was disappointed in the first sip it was really bitter. But after stirring in the cream, it was delicious. I got the Uncloudy Day (adorable name). My favorite part about all their special drinks, is that they are well thought out and unique in flavor. Not enough coffee shops are brave enough to do that.
Next, the atmosphere. This shop is ADORABLE. We were driving through the town on our way back to Missouri, and I was scrolling through coffee shops, saw this one, and demanded my friend (the driver) stop. We pulled over, and turned around to drive 4 minutes back to stop in. I have travelled a lot and been to countless coffee shops. This place is just perfect for the local. It was even prettier in person, and I absolutely loved the lounge they have to the left of the coffee bar.
Next, the food! My friends got some scones and their snickerdoodle coffee cake. They were in heaven. I have a nut allergy so I try to stay away from cakes and stuff. I was pleasantly surprised to see the mozzarella and tomato bowl. For 8 bucks, it was high quality and hefty. It was a solid lunch for me!
Overall, this place was quaint, delicious, and made for a great stop! I definitely wanna come back to explore this little town more, maybe get some trout fishing in. Adorable little mountain towns are the best!
Small critiques/suggestions for the owners: Stickers! I would have loved a sticker from this place. Also as someone with a nut allergy, I would have appreciated ingredient labels. Other than that, I don't have...
Read moreThere is everything to love about Trout Mountain Coffeehouse and Inn... well, except the location. I wish they were in Nashville and not in Tellico Plains. I am very jealous that they do not exist in the town that I reside. I guess that just means I will have to return to Tellico to enjoy their beautiful establishment.
I was completely thrown back when I walked into this place. What I had expected and what I saw were not the same things. If you know anything about this area, there is not a lot going on as far as I could tell when it comes to the dining scene or coffee scene. This was a complete one off to find it. It is slick, modern, has architectural photographers who own it, make class non-alcoholic drinks and food, and their art/photography is for sale. Take a masterpiece with you.
What can be said is the vibe from the day did not have the same vibe as the evening. We had spent the day in the car driving down the Cherohala Skyway. It was relaxing, but a lot of stop and go. Finishing out journey here was icing on the cake.
If in, make sure to get one of their seasonal drinks and do not bypass the desserts. They're both totally worth it. Expect to take in a lot of calories. Plus, the customer service matches the quality of the experience as a whole - nothing...
Read moreUpon entering and ordering, the barista did not say hi, welcome, or greet anyone in my party. I ordered a specialty latte . Upon tasting, I assumed my order was mixed up. It tasted as if it was a bitter blend of coffee that was left on the burner for too long with a splash of milk. I let the additional 5 people in my party taste as well, to ensure I wasnât missing something. Unfortunately, it was just flat out bad. I took my order back up to ask the barista to please remake, as it tastes like black burnt coffee. Her response: âWell if you want it sweeter you have to ask when you order and itâs an up charge.â I looked at her and shared with her that I enjoy and actually prefer black coffee and espresso (any fellow mamaâs with me?!), but this does not taste right. I waited 5 minutes at the counter for her to bring my drink back to me stating: âI put 2 extra shots of syrup in it for you.â I tried it again and it tasted even worse, as I do not like sugary / sweet coffee. I ended up throwing the drink away. On the plus side, the interior is extremely cute! I will be sure to stop elsewhere for a $7 coffee that is enjoyable and to be treated respectfully, as a paying customer, each time I come this way...
