we arrived at 2:45p happy there was an Indian restaurant that didn't close between 3-5p & this place is a revolving door w non-stop diners! now we know why - this place is amazing & absolutely up there with Indian cuisine I've had in the SF bay area, LA, NYC, Tokyo and Bangkok - couldn't be happier there is now authentic Indian food in Temecula I'd be happy to bring friends to (I've been struggling for years to find an ethnic place in general so this is a good sign!)
The presentation of all the dishes is excellent - no cheap dishware here without being too snooty. and more importantly, the dishes are chock full of spices - we tried the Lamb Curry (our recommendation!), Fish Curry (bit more bland but still decent), and the okra dish. The basmati rice was perfect (comes with curry, you don't need to order it separately) & we got two side orders of naan (plain & chili). They are generous with portions - we ate family style & discovered 3 dishes was more than enough (for a party of 3) & we left feeling more than full w leftovers for 2 light meals. We asked for as spicy as they could make it but given that we are Thai, it wasn't very spicy at all - just a hint of a kick. So I'd say if you like spicy food, you don't have to worry about going overboard if it's your first time 😉
The only thing I would nitpick is I wish their mango lassi was made fresh in-house - it was the kind that comes from a gallon jug that is more orange than orange can be & overly sweet. Because the food & atmosphere was so good, we're willing to overlook this & hope the owner will consider fresh lassi by the time we come back :) and we'll be back for the Tandoori chicken & biriyani - we saw both dishes on other tables and it looked great. Definitely our new gem in...
Read moreWe were in Temecula Ca & we were craving Indian cuisine and as we were looking thru Yelp we found this Indian restaurant named Himalayan Taste Temecula authentic Indian food. The restaurant is really nice and clean inside. They have really nice Décor too! The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the awesome aroma of Indian spices! We started off with the onion fritters or cakes . I’m sorry I forgot the name of this dish! But if you get the chance you have to try these! They are a little spicy but very tasty!! The sauces that come with the dish are awesome too! They really make this dish! My hubby ordered the chicken tiki masala which he liked a lot and I ordered the chicken korma which was so yummy! Even my hubby liked it! The raisins really made this dish! My hubby ordered the Mango Lassi too! He said it was good! It was really thick & creamy! He says whenever he is at a Indian restaurant that he has to try their Mango Lassi! He really liked it too! The service was awesome! We had our waiter helping us and then the manager came over to check on us too! Just too see if we needed anything and too see if our waiter was doing & getting everything that we needed! All in all it was an awesome meal!! We will definitely be back! We are going to have to bring our daughter & her hubby to try it too! I know they will love it as much as we do! So if you’re in the Temecula Ca area and are looking for a great Indian restaurant & cuisine then you have to give this place a try! It’s definitely...
Read moreThis is the second time we've enjoyed a meal from Himalayan Taste. The first was for take out, when we had Veggie samosas, Lamb masala, Naan and rice. Everything was well prepared, delicious and hearty, lots of Lamb in the dish and enough to serve two people.
This time we opted for dining in. The restaurant has a bistro feel, lively, family style seating, rather than the more formal atmosphere in many Indian places. There is plenty of seating and the design is pleasant, setting great, the wait staff is attentive and timely. Our order came at about the right timing to indicating that our dishes were made to order...and they tasted like it.
We ordered dumplings to start and loved them. They are a great alternative to the samosas we usually have. For our main we shared Butter chicken, rice and garlic naan. The spices in the dishes were well layered and stunningly good. The chicken was nice and juicy, and the butter sauce amazing. Neither of us had tasted butter chicken and wow,...it was one of the best dishes we've had at an Indian place. The garlic naan was super as well and the rice perfectly prepared.
With the starter, sharing a main was more than enough food, with the ample serving size and the amount of chicken in the dish. They didn't hold back, and we had enough for leftovers the next day. The food was so delicious, we plan on making this a regular and slowly eating our way through the menu! With tip the bill was about $35.
We highly recommend...
