Salad was terrible after sending it back twice. Best sandwich on the menu was dry. For some reason i can't reply to the owners response so I will add more details here. I came in at 7:20 last night so you should have no problem finding my name in your POS. The salad was sent back actually 3 times, we requested a garden salad with no meat and no cheese just avocado. When we got the salad and the sandwich the salad had chicken on it. I gave it back to the cashier she returns one minute later with the same salad with just the chicken taken off. I go to ask her of the salad was redone she says no just chicken taken off, she then asked if we would like it remade. Of course we say yes. 5ish minutes later the new salad comes before she releases the salad as she puts it on the table, she looks at it as it hits the table and says you did not want cheese did you? Salad goes back again and was remade. As we wait on the salad my sandwich just sits because, Im not just going to eat and look at her. I have no idea what sandwich I got because I asked the cashier what is the best sandwich and without question she says something about a beef sandwich. I say great let me get that. After 20 minutes of it sitting and nothing really on it other then cheese and sauce on the side it was dry as all get out.
I respect any business that would respond and Im a huge cowboys fan so I did not really want to write the review however I only went there because of 2,300 reviews and it being 5 stars so I felt the need to say how not good of a time I had. Staff was nice enough, not amazing, complaint is all about the food. I don't care about the money at all they did offer us free chips, we declined.
I see you responded again. I have zero desire to talk to you on the phone. The point of a review is to state my experience, I have done that. I do not want or need money back. Everyone is not influenced by money I happened to be that kind of person. Your restaurant may be great to all the others that reviewed it however that was not the service I got. Also I was not offered my money back while I was there and I would not have accepted it if I was. The way you have responded to this negative review tells me everything I need to know about a company you would run. Have a wonderful rest...
Read moreI’d never heard of this place until I spotted it on google maps. I was in the mood for something new, with a draft beer, so I decided to swing by.
I found a menu full of sandwiches, both traditional and bespoke, and a fairly healthy beer list. Seems like they have a few side options to accompany your sandwich, but those aren’t included without a surcharge.
Ultimately I settled on the hot pastrami, a staple hot sub, and made my way to a seat to wait. The wait wasn’t long, and before I knew it I had chomped down half my sandwich. Until then I hadn’t dipped into the unknown reddish/brown dipping sauce, deciding instead to consume the sandwich in the state it had arrived to me from the source of its creation.
It was immediately clear that this was a flavorful combination of pastrami, bacon, mustard, Swiss, and veggies. The pepperonis really sang brightly through the rich and smoky meats. But after halftime I started to realize that something was amiss. Instinctively I popped open the mystery sauce and dunked the sandwich. Ahh, there it is. The sandwich was actually quite dry, and my previous state of hunger hadn’t allowed me to recognize the flaw. Immediately I wished for a more generous meat to bun ratio, or at least some mayo or some saucy/greasy peppers on top, anything for a bit more moisture.
In my estimation this establishment is a copy/paste job of a semi successful chain from California that prefers to employ exceptionally good-looking humans to generate higher revenues. It’s perfect for ASU. For me, it was a bit expensive considering what I can get at other sub shops. Beer prices are reasonable at $6 on average. Overall, Board & Brew is a solid and creative choice in the heart of Tempe that’s worth taking...
Read moreI came here with high expectations but I was kind of disappointed, to say the least, by the service and the sandwich that I ordered. I had a question about the type of meat used in the pastrami sandwich and the cashier didn't know, which was fine. What wasn't fine is that the cashier's first instinct wasn't to go find out. I was taken aback by that and continued to search the menu for another minute until I had to ask her if she could ask the person making the sandwiches or someone what type of meat is in the pastrami sandwich (it was not busy at all at the time I came in). She asked the person making the sandwiches who was directly behind her and visible from my view about the type of meat in the sandwich, and I got my answer. It was that simple, and I thought it would have been common sense to do that when you don't know the answer to a question a customer is asking, but I was wrong.
Anyway, on to the sandwich..I ordered the baja chicken sandwich and I thought it was quite bland. I expected some flavor but there was hardly any. Not only that, the bread tasted a little stale. Because of that, I was disappointed because I did expect something high quality and flavorful. The sandwich wasn't bad but it wasn't terrific, in my opinion.
Updated Review: I had the opportunity to talk to the owner about my experience and he acknowledged the issues I had and apologized for it. He attempted to rectify the issues by offering me a refund in the form of a check that bounced and caused me to incur a fee. I'm updating my review from 2 to 1 stars for the inconvenience. I wasn't expecting a refund but he insisted to make things right when it made the situation worse. I definitely will never go back nor will I...
