Can you say awful? I've spent the better part of today trying to return my rented textbooks. First, I was told the books could not be returned without my receipt. Why? I wasn't looking for money, just honoring the terms of the rental agreement. Second, I tried to do the online process to return them because I couldn't go back to the store today. Unfortunately I decided to rent a book from the store ,not processed online, so I was told that book couldn't be returned with the other ones. This is where it gets silly. I was told I would be charged the price of the book plus a non return penalty, but I could adjust the rental agreement online and pay only the difference between what I paid to rent it and the cost of the book. I like that option better. However, because I didn't rent it online, there is no online agreement to adjust. Furthermore, the store couldn't adjust my account over the phone. I was told I had to come in and pay the difference. If i could come in, I would just return the $*&king book! Then, I was told after being charged the full price of the book the store would continue to solicit me until I made it official that I was keeping the book. I'm not a finance major, but wouldn't my purchase of the book solidify ownership? I called the store back and got voice mail or hung up on. I called the downtown location and explained everything that happened and was told that you don't need the receipt to return rentals. Their instructions to me were to include the book in the box with a note and there should be no penalty. Thank you downtown...
Read moreI called the store today because they performed an error assigning me a digital copy of a book. I couldnt access the material i payed for when i needed to….which caused me a great deal of inconvenience as a working college student. After being on hold for nearly 10 minutes, and my irritation building by the incompetence of everyone ive interacted with on the book store’s end, I decide to DRIVE to the bookstore, to which I actually arrive before the individual I was speaking to picked up the phone again….PATHETIC. The manager who I spoke with seemed very unapologetic for the utterly terrible service I had received and did not proceed to try and rectify the situation in any way other than to refund me the old copy and have me purchase a new one(to which I had to pay the digital delivery fee AGAIN despite never having received the first one!)
I get that college kids work here but it isnt a hard job and if they cant manage to satisfy the job requirements at the book store than they need to work somewhere else, like the DMV or McDonalds, where this behavior...
Read moreI had a terrible experience here. I came in once a couple weeks ago to exchange my graduation gown for a bigger size, did so with no issues. Except that I got home and it was still too small so I went back in today. I asked to try on a gown this time and was told that there only one size for grad gowns and the only thing that changes is height. But then they said there is one other size but it’s “HUGE” the manager continued to repeat four times that the only other size gown is HUGE. Well they finally agreed to bring it out and I try on the bigger size and while a tiny bit big for me was by no means HUGE. I don’t think it will even fit some of my classmates. Needless to say I chose to take home the bigger one and the manager didn’t say another word to me.
This kind of language is damaging and humiliating. The manager was yelling from across the register counter for the whole front of store to hear about how HUGE this other gown was and then to try it on right there in store and have it fit almost well...
