Really sad to see what used to be a good restaurant go downhill so fast. A year ago, this was my favorite restaurant. Today, I brought some out of town guests. Afterwards, I was embarrassed to have brought them here. No one greeted us at the door. The table tops all feel sticky. The floor under the table is sticky. No nice Indian music playing. Booth upholstery torn. Way understaffed. Waiter brought the food before bringing plates. Waited for 10-15 minutes, then finally had to go ask the kitchen for plates, which they brought with only one large spoon for each of us as our silverware. (Rice dishes had forks in them as serving utensils, so we took those to eat with.) No one checked on us to see how the food was or to offer refills on water or drinks. Wanted chai after the meal but was told they didn't have any Chai at this time of night. (The other half of this restaurant is "Chai Corner".) Overheard them tell another customer they had run out of vegetables. They no longer bring your check to the table and take your card to process the payment, but make you go stand at the cash register and wait while they type the charges in. (This drastically reduces the feeling of a nice restaurant and makes you feel you are at some kind of hamburger joint.) I saw customers waiting for multiple minutes for someone to come to the register to receive their payment. The Chicken Achari had some small, sharp pieces of chicken bone in it, as if the pieces had been carelessly chopped. The only redeeming thing about the visit was the taste of the food itself. Everything else that had made this a charming place to visit seems to have been lost. :/ I am sad. I have a special guest coming to visit me in Tempe for the first time in a couple of weeks. I had planned to show them my favorite restaurant. Now, I am looking for an Indian restaurant that has basic restaurant standards for cleanliness and...
Read moreHORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! These people are so unprofessional and rude. I've spent most of my day trying to get in contact with "Omar" who is supposed to be the Manager. I've called 4 times only for them to say the third & last time that he isn't here when I clearly heard the lady answering the phone(4th time) and the other guy(3rd time) speaking to him over the phone while I waited. I said ma'am, "I can hear you are speaking to him. Why would you lie?" She said because he told me to. Huge cultural differences with this place and they have no consideration for their customers. I was calling to let them know that my food was extremely spicy after requesting no spice on any of my $100 worth of food. It is very dirty in this restaurant....like almost didn't pay for the food I ordered because it smelled and the back when the door swung open to the kitchen look dirty as well... I want a full refund but can't even talk to the liar and the liars that are working for him. I did not have a good experience when going into this restaurant to pick up my food either - the front desk lady was very short and rude to me. I don't get how ppl are still in business with ethics like these... I will be contacting my bank for a full credit. It's sad that "Omar" didn't get on the phone and actually be a Manager to resolve it. I would've never come back anyway due to the appearance of filth but still... The only edible thing we could eat was the Naan - we ended up throwing away $100 worth of food. Like literally all of it.... The chicken was still bloody, disgusting. I always like to give businesses at least one chance of redemption......
Read moreWell, I resorted to this place after findin out that 3 other Indian restaurants were closed down or closed for the week. I went here knowing the reviews were fairly bad. But, a lot of the reviews said how good the food was, but service was not. I could not agree more about the service. It was deplorable. I waited 5 min to be seated, another 10 min to just get a chance to order an iced tea and another 5 to order my food. Service guy, I will not call him a waiter since he did not do anything other than scribble a note and literally slide my plate to me. I am a nice guy and still said thank you, quite clearly. I received a mumble the first time and nothing the second time. That was just the service. I am not an Indian cuisine snob however I do know my Indian food VERY well. I am lucky enough to live in Riverside Ca. Home of some of the best , diverse Indian cuisine out there. Lamb Tikka Masala: Frozen lamb. Definitely refrozen more than once. Tikka Masala, definitely not home made and if it was, they should be embarrassed. I took a chance and ordered the special house made Tikka Masala Fries. Odd fusion of Pakistani and American. I say Pakistani because there wasn't a hint of spice in the Tikka Sauce. It was SUPER bland. Tasted like they smeared tomato paste on fries and added Feta chunks on top with a cream sauce that I could not identify. Although the fries did look very good, until I ate them. Also, the Bismiyati rice was old, burned at the bottom rice was included and was VERY bland also. I suggest going elsewhere. Not a very good...
