The best sandwich shop in Tempe

I have become a faithful patron of this small sandwich shop & liquor store in Tempe. I have sampled most of the menu and have enjoyed it every time. Located inside Sun Stop Liquor Store, Hangover Hoagies menu offers "Hammered Pastrami," "Impaired Chicken," "Drunken Philly," & "Plastered Turkey BLT," and much more. There are a few tables inside near the sandwich counter and much larger tables outside for diners. The entire establishment is kept immaculate. Even the outside tables are always clean. The food prep area is always clean. Heck, I've observed the employees washing their hands after returning from a cigarette break.

The liquor store side is also held to the same cleanliness standard. The liquor bottles are dusted regularly. I wouldn't be able to detect how long inventory actually sits on the shelves here.

Sun Stop Liquor Store offers a plethora of distilled spirits, beers, mixers, and non-alcoholic beverages suitable for any budget. Perusing the aisles in this establishment can best be described as "The United Nations" of alcohol. So no matter what your national origin is I'm certain you'll find your favorite hometown spirits on the shelves of this International Liquors store!

I appreciate the employees and management at this establishment very much. Each and every staff member are friendly and always in good spirits. I know my business is valued here just by the way I am consistently greeted. Their positive attitudes are the same at 10 a.m. as it is at 2 a.m., seven days a week!

This place definitely has it down right. I was a little skeptical for the high praise on Postmates, and referred to Google to check them out and I said well I got to give it a try. Order two sandwiches via Postmates, and I will have to say with 100% pure conviction the best subs I have ever had. Not to say Whichwich or Jimmy Johns or even Capriotti's, or many other big name sub places are bad, I love those places too. However this place is perfect. I had a minor adjustment in my order which I requested via Postmates, and you all know when ordering through the app it most often than not gets missed and you never get the adjustment ever fulfilled. And I never spoke to someone there. But when I received my order it was correct, the first time! Now you know some places will over load their sub with so much cold cut meat and think that is the trick to delivering a delicious sub, however this place does the write combo of enough meat with the balance of fresh veggies. Not too much sauce, but just the right amount. I can't really say much more it is worth the try. Prices are extremely fair, $9.99 for a 14" sub?!!? What a steal! I could not finish it one sitting so I ate the rest later, and that is like 5 bucks a meal, you can't beat that nowadays and the food is excellent. Anyone out there looking for a great sub and excellent price...

Well had to leave a negative review after getting the subs we got.

I don't know if this is a fusion type place, but the subs we ordered did not match up to our expectations of what goes in one.

For one, I ordered the Effing Ruben. Normally it's pastrami with swiss, horseradish, and 1000 Island which as a sub would be excellent. Instead I got the Effing Pastrami BLT. The toppings were that of a BLT sub. It just didn't seem right. It tasted fine, but it wasn't a Ruben.

Now while that would have been acceptable to leave a three star review, the reason why I dropped the star rating was due to my girlfriend's choice. She ordered the Philly Cheesesteak. For some reason it had mayo. Now, for anyone asking, you never put mayo on a Philly Cheesesteak. It's straight up blasphemy. My girlfriend didn't request for it and we didn't notice it until we got home. That and the meat tasted undercooked and the peppers tasted like mush. She could not finish the sandwhich and we had to throw it away. It really did ruin her experience and we had to go to a different shop to get her a decent hoagie.
