This review just covers the restaurant. The rest of the experience was mostly typical IKEA. Unfortunately, due to the poor quality of the food and the rude attitude of the employees we interacted with we are swearing off the restaurant on future visits. We have been enjoying our Swedish meatballs and Greek salads for ages. Today’s plan was to do the same, IKEA ruined that. For some unknown reason they decided to eliminate the Greek salad from their menu. The choices were now either chicken or Caesar salad, neither of which looked very appetizing. In fact they both were anemic compared to the Greek salad. My wife opted to get the chicken salad anyway figuring she could add to it with an add on salad bar. I went ahead and got the meatballs as usual. When we got to the salad bar, it was almost devoid of lettuce. The bin was empty, and there was zero dressing. We told one of the servers, who did nothing to address it. After getting the attention of a second server, after an eye roll he went and retrieved 2 pouches of light Italian dressing for us. As we reached the register my wife asked if she could get a to-go cup for her favorite drink. She was informed that only water was available due to a burst line in their drink machine. However she could go downstairs and get her drink from the hot dog shop on the first floor. Upon asking if she could get help with that since she is handicapped - after the obligatory eye roll, the cashier said “there’s an elevator over there” - WOW! Okay, so that’s a big fat no; not to mention a “no help for you lady!” So we sat and ate our food. It was as if we were in an episode of Restaurant Impossible because there was literally no flavor. The food was “Blah”. It neither tasted good nor bad, just “blah” After eating we left and went downstairs to leave, but my wife insisted on talking to the manager. She listened and was apologetic, and contrary to our wishes refunded the meal Evan as I was writing this review, knowing full well I was continuing to finish it. She tried to explain about supply chain issues, etc. But honestly, most of what we observed was poor management and lack of focusing on the customer. The menu changes were clearly driven by cost cutting which is out of her control, but customer service is in her control. She needs to focus on what she can control and make sure every customer feels as if they are valued. Believe it or not, there is more to the story, but the preceding is enough for today. Read moreTook a family member who's never been to IKEA before. It made me appreciate the store seeing their eyes expand. They are starting over so this was a really good experience for them. I was able to find the things I needed so all in all a good trip.
I was irked several years back and stopped coming. I wrote a letter to corporate and was ignored even. It had to do with the childrens area and my son being fully potty trained. I initially was taking him through the store so I put his pull ups on as there are no close restrooms when you are in the store. Well he decides halfway through he wanted to go play instead so I take him down. Well I'm told that they cant accept children with diapers. I told her hes fully potty trained but I thought he was walking and since I knew the closest restroom was not a close walk once upstairs I put them on him to spare the store and myself a bad experience. I showed her his underwear that I had in my bag and told her I was going to change him back in to them Well she argued with me and began causing a scene. Two things I dont do in front of my children.. so I left the store and haven't come back. He's now 7.. so if that tells you about how I handle places that dont respect their customers.. just writing this brings back some memories of badly I...
Read moreI've eaten at this IKEA restaurant a few times. Sometimes my friend and I come here to eat lunch, and we don't even shop.
I would say I eat a vegetarian diet about 95% of the time. However, I really enjoy IKEA's meaty meatballs.
My friend is 99% vegetarian, so she gets the veggie balls. Well. In September of 2024, when my friend asked the worker for vegetarian meatballs, the worker asked which kind. That's when we realized there are now two vegetarian meatball options!
The original vegetarian meatballs are made from veggies. They are good. I've had them before. But they are not like the meaty meatballs.
The new vegetarian meatballs are made with pea protein. My friend let me try one of them. It was really tasty! Very much like the meaty meatballs. Next time I'll probably get the pea protein balls.
The restaurant has a very pleasant atmosphere. It was not crowded when we had lunch there on a...
