We recently visited for a "dine-in", which we were drawn to because of our positive experience at the original location for many years. However, our feelings were mixed after leaving this particular one. While the prices were reasonable (some can definitely find it pricey) for the current economy, the quality of the food fell short of our expectations. I ordered the chicken shawarma sandwich, which was disappointing due to the stale bread, lackluster marination, and poor wrapping. The ingredients were not evenly distributed, making it difficult to enjoy the sandwich. Additionally, the portion size of my wife's dish was surprisingly small (4 small pieces comes out of one skewer only). The yellow rice, some hummus and salad were used as fillers to compensate for the lack of essential ingredients. Once you see the tables, you expect the food would be served in plates but instead, they are just brought in to go boxes which for me cheapened the experience dramatically. Overall, we felt like we had purchased food from a temporarily parked food truck instead of a restaurant with high reputation and paid more than we would have at both the original Princess Restaurant and other Mediterranean establishments in the area. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was inviting and the aromas were tantalizing. The authenticity of the cuisine truly impressed me, and it transported me to the Mediterranean.
The service was exceptional. The staff was not only knowledgeable about the menu but also incredibly friendly and attentive. They were happy to offer recommendations and made sure our dining experience was enjoyable from start to finish.
As for the food, every dish I tried was a culinary delight. The flavors were rich and well-balanced, and the presentation was impeccable. The freshness of the ingredients was evident in every bite. The falafel was crispy and flavorful, the shawarma was perfectly seasoned, and the hummus was creamy and delicious.
I highly recommend Princess Pita to anyone seeking an authentic Mediterranean dining experience. Read moreI had the pleasure of dining at Princess Pita last week, and it truly exceeded my expectations. From the moment we walked in, the cozy and casual atmosphere made us feel right at home. It’s not a flashy or fancy place—just honest, delicious Mediterranean food served with care.
We ordered the chicken shawarma plate and a gyro combo, and both were fantastic. The meat was tender, perfectly seasoned, and full of flavor. The hummus was creamy and fresh, and the warm pita bread was just the right balance of soft and slightly chewy. The portions were generous without being overwhelming—definitely great value for the price.
What really stood out was the warmth of the staff. The gentleman at the counter took the time to explain the menu, made recommendations, and was incredibly friendly throughout. You can tell they genuinely care about the food and the customer experience.
It’s the kind of place you go back to—not just because of the food, but because it feels like you’re supporting a local spot that does things right. If you’re in Tempe and craving Mediterranean food, Princess Pita is absolutely worth a visit. You’ll leave...
