On a trip to Vegas, my wife and I tried a dim sum place -- one with the little old lady pushing the cart and everything. Surprisingly, even after accidentally trying chicken feet, she loved the place and the concept. (Even more surprising that she remembered it at all! She was hammered!) According to the underground dim sum network here in Tampa (not really a thing), this place has good dim sum. Just no little old lady with a cart. That would ha e been the only thing missing, cause the HoHo definitely doesn't lack on anything else! We ordered solely off the dim sum menu, but they have a full regular menu plus a hot pot menu!! Next time! I love hot pot! We had pork dumplings and shrimp dumplings and fried shrimp puffballs and an awesome beef noodle soup, and a fried noodle dish with seafood in an oyster sauce. The last 2 were full dishes big enough to split with 2-3 people (or more, if everyone just wanted a dim-sum size portion). It was all so good! Service was great too -- they started bringing the dishes out very soon after ordering, and it was nice they brought them out as each got ready rather than waiting for all at once -- so if you closed your eyes I guess you could just imagine the little old lady wheeling the cart around. All very friendly. The place itself is not in a real great area, and the building it's in was a tad sketchy too. (Oddly, the building strip had 3 Asian restaurants, a Persian restaurant, a Mexican restaurant and a Mexican food truck -- so it was like a Mecca of good eats). But the HoHo was clean and nice on the inside. You'll be fine, just go. Tell them I sent you. That won't help any, and they won't know who I am even if you explain it -- but give it a shot.

I have a long and storied history with Ho Ho Choy's starting in the early 90's and my introduction to Dim Sum. It would be many years before anybody in Tampa produced the quality, variety and authenticity of the food they carry. I bought a live 2 lb lobster today at the market on Fowler and brought it to Ho Ho's for one of my favorite dishes, Lobster in Spicy Black Bean Sauce on a bed of Pan Fried Noodles. To die for!! I've done the same with live Dungeness Crab, usually in a Ginger Garlic Sauce. This is the only place I know that will cook live crabs or lobster that you bring in from the market. Nothing like handing someone a live lobster and in 10 minutes it's on your table! They originated on Dale Mabry in the Kmart Plaza next to a bar and a theatre. All long gone by now. There is where I discovered Dim Sum and they still have some of the best out there. It was not till 5-10 years ago that other places finally caught up in variety and quality. 18 years ago, after 16 years on Dale Mabry, Ho Ho's moved to their current location on Fletcher. The chinese food here is better than most, they offer a huge variety of meals cooked in authentic style. Much better than your corner china food store. They also carry a standard assortment of americanized dishes we are all used to. Food is super good, the flavors are authentic and I highly recommend you try it. Little secret, ask about seasonal vegetables, many times they are not on the menu, photo below.

Mainly went for the Dim Sum. NOT disappointed, everything was wonderful. I went there on a Sunday, around noon, so plenty of seating available. Had the wonton egg drop soup, Shrimp rice paste, beef tripe, Shrimp dumpling with chives, siu mai, and the pan fried dumplings. Wonton egg drop was one of the BEST around Tampa that I've tried. Nice and thick with perfectly cooked wonton with a ton of flavor. Meaty, salty, with the silky wrapper. Shrimp rice paste is delicious too. Drizzled with the sauce and big shrimp. Beef tripe full of flavor, nicely cooked and a decent serving. Shrimp dumpling with chives also wonderful, lots of flavor nicely filled and tender wrapping. Siu mai is mot far behind. Came out nice and hot, meat really well seasoned. Nothing overly overpowering in any of them. And the regular pan fried dumpling also made really well, much better than your standard potstickers order. Quick service, as I said before I was there early. Added the qty in the sheet of paper for all the things I got and they brought them out as they were being prepped. Lots of businesses around so parking is a little limited, but place is relatively large so alot of seating.

I am actually sitting in front of the restaurant right now.I came in and I ordered 2 separate orders. The first order was a small shrimp Fried Rice. The second order was a small house Fried Rice with $3 worth of extra shrimp and a side.Order of crap me ragon When I received my second order , it was a large house Fried Rice. So I simply asked the young lady behind the counter. Is it there a price difference? Since I now have the correct small house for the rice immediately. She became aggressive and started yelling at me saying this is not. We did not overcharge you well. I never said that you overturned me. I was just asking a simple question. As far as the price difference, then the man which is, I suppose it's her husband behind the counter. Start yelling at me too at this point. Being. A growing Christian.I simply turned around and walked away.I am not in my car making this review.I don't recommend anyone to ever come to this restaurant. The customer service is absolutely Not acceptable in any way she performed. They don't know how to speak to the customers and run a happy And prosperous restaurant instead. The young man and the young lady fills it with chaos in drama. This location is on fletcher This avenue maybe there are custom to being cussed out By their patrons I am a professional educate it woman and I know how to speak to a person without cursing. Or raising my voice, it was just a simple question. I'm just saying I don't recommend this restaurant for anyone to ever go. Would want food that's cooked with love. Not food that's cooked with...
