When it comes to food options, there isn't much you can find other than chain restaurants and fast food joints in Temple, TX. Thank goodness for MOD Pizza to feed those hunger loving foodies. Though a chain restaurant, it is designed for fresh ingredients and picky eaters like me that enjoys customizing every dish to their liking. Similar to the concept that put Blaze Pizza on the map, MOD Pizza has recreated an analogous scheme in building your own pizza with endless topping options, but with no additional surcharge. Whether you choose 1 topping to 30 toppings, get it for one, very reasonable price. Choose from 3 different crusts, 6 sauces, 7 cheeses, 26 veggies (and "good stuff"), 9 meaty options, and 8 condiments. Again, no matter how many toppings you choose, the price never changes! While they have prepped pizzas on the menu, for my rookie experience, I decided to build my own with a spicy red sauce, garlic rub, and blend of mozzarella and asiago cheeses, basil, onions, green peppers, and Serrano peppers, with a side of ranch on a classic Mod sized crust for a little over $10. Great portions for the price! As for the taste test - the thickness of the crust is not thin but not super thick either. Just right in the middle. The pizza is cooked to perfection, while heated in a wood fire grill that gives you a unique, smoky flavor that's impossible to replicate in a traditional oven. On top of that is some incredible tomato sauce with a kick. I could definitely taste the freshness of the crisp veggies. The pizza, however failed the โcheese stretchโ test, but then again, weโre not in Chicago. For those health nuts, go for the gluten free or cauliflower crust, or ditch the carbs all together and build your own salad. Great customer service and friendly staff members that made my first experience, but definitely not last, smooth with a quick in...
ย ย ย Read moreLove the pizza... Great value.. however, very disappointed in the concept. Employee stated on my first visit that they were like subway...order pizza and get free additional toppings (of course within reason). I've noticed with return visits that do their best not to offer any additional topics... Especially on the cheese pizza... They obviously do not want to add any toppings due to food costs.(I get it) It's a bit deceiving..... although they do not have any advertising in the restaurant that additional toppings are free. however, I believe that is the concept is part of what is MOD pizza. This has happened to me on the last four visits. And the cheese pizza. (MANDY) even had the team member not even ask whatsoever and place it in the processing rack about add-ons. If you don't want to do add-ons for free don't tell people that you're like subway!!... UPDATE: same issue as above but gave me 2 pizzas that were barely cooked. I believe the standard relatively crispy crust.. the ones I got I couldn't even hold in my hand they were so gooey... So unfortunately although they have great pizza and great price executions not so great! And I do love their Pizza. Very disappointed in their rewards program. It seems designed not to be user-friendly. You somehow need to remember to bring your receipt in and order on the app not in the store. This should be changed to putting in your phone number just like most places. Obviously they know you're going to lose the receipts. So although the pizza is great prices great the execution is rather poor...
ย ย ย Read moreWent here today because the MOD in Killeen closed for unknown reasons. Was even better I may have to take the drive everytime. The MOD in Killeen they seem like they don't care about the customers I've been several times and the last 3 times they've burned my pizza. I always get a mega with a bunch of veggies and finishing sauces so I hate when they try to rush me through it all. Having worked at MOD pizza myself in the past I know what the customer is supposed to be asked and what should be said when they enter the restaurant, finish getting a pizza made, and what a burnt pizza looks like. The MOD in Temple, TX went by the book it was refreshing and the best part was it made for a pizza that was made the best it could. Won't be going back to MOD in Killeen now that I know there's something better only 25 mins...
