I love buffets. For some some reason, it brings out the child in me. Buffets done right are fun, even when dining alone.
This was my first visit, but definitely not my last. This restaurant not only has Chinese food, but it also has "southern home cookin". To be honest, this is the first restaurant that I have ever been to to boast of southern cooking, so my opinion of the southern food is from an extremely amateur point of view. On the other hand, I would consider myself a master of consuming "American" Chinese food.
The day I visited was a Thursday for lunch. I sampled nearly every item in the Chinese section. I found every item to be unique in flavor when compared to other items. As all the items are not customly cooked to order, as in a traditional restaurant, I was literally amazed at the taste, texture and warmth of the my meal. The chicken eggrolls and the hot sour soup, were so yummy that I went back for seconds.
I also sampled from the southern section and was delighted to see such variety of non-chinese food. Most of the food, I didn't recognize ( I'm more used to Southern California Cooking). This concept of the Southern food is a great option for family members who don't really care for Chinese. The food was also fresh and tasty. The fried chicken was excellent! I really enjoyed how they took simple ingredients like potato's and onions and made a tantalizing side dish.
The salad bar was complete with fresh veggies on ice, everything was crisp.
I dined during the week and my total including soft drink was under $15 which I feel was a good value as it is a similar price point as other buffets, but with better food.
As I was finishing up, I really started to try to find a reason not to give them 5 stars. My whole dining experience from the friendly staff, to the great tasting food, seemed a little too easy, and maybe I was missing something. Come on, there had to be a catch, there's no such thing as a "perfect dining experience" at a buffet.
It was then that I realized that I didn't try the sushi. I went to the sushi section, only to realize that there wasn't one. Was I disappointed, not at the littlest bit. The incorporating of Southern and Chinese food as menu items far surpassed the lack of sushi.
Thank you to the staff on the day I went, you guys rock, and created a very memorable experience for this newly relocated google guide.
And, please remember to tip...

Things have changed and not for the better. Management stated the take out food will be weighed! I no longer dine in or out because the prices are up too high to include the children. The customers expectations is that the value, quantity, and customer service is excellent and the cost is fair and across the board. But the saints prefer godly servants preparing our food. Rest in Jesus Bettie Baskin she left us Southern Hands Homestyle Cooking. We will dine in at the Rocking Chair Resturant, Captain Kings Seafood, Golden Corral Buffett & Grill, A&R Barbecue, Neeley’s Barbecue and will forever go to Picadilly’s Resturant. Chow Time may not remember us but you won’t forget our patronage. Liars figure but your figures at the end of this season going forward won’t lie! You will recognize the value of everyone that’s contributed to your salaries and the cost of more money and less food is nothing. Folks down south know how to cook everything on your menu and the way we’ll show you is to not show up. We can weigh our own food when we buy it at the grocery store. Memhis for those of us who are able. Let us start back having Sunday dinners and everyone that can cook do so, and those that are not as skillful contribute to the cooks. Time, unity, dedication, emotional support not just to eat together, a ritual strengths, bonds, builds resilience, respect for one another, connection, communication, and to promote physical and mental well-being of every family member. To pray for one another, to rebuke family curses and mental illness as well as depression. This is been missing far too long in our families because the patriarch and matriarch is resting. We need to nominate and designate family leaders to assume this role. I pray for unity in the matchless name of Jesus. The readers will make the first move to restore the years that the locust has eaten. Joel 2:25-27. Marinate! In God we trust, we trust in God! Gods grace be multiplied one hundred fold...
