Flip Flop Sub Shop — Restaurant in Tequesta

This used to be my favorite sub shop. I would tell everyone (including the guy that made my sandwich) that they had the best Italian sub in the area. That has always been my go-to order.

I think ownership may have changed recently because my last two visits have been deeply disappointing. The bread is different. It's significantly smaller, kinda stale tasting, and is more like a hot dog bun (in size, taste, and consistency). I get that costs are rising and other area restaurants are downsizing portions, but downsizing quality is unacceptable. Really, it used to be that half a sub left me stuffed. Now, I can eat the entire sub. That's a significant difference in size. Additionally, today my sandwich had several strands of stringy, woody textured stuff all throughout it. I imagine it was stems from improperly cut banana peppers.

I hope the owner reads this because my intent is to help you. I want my perfect Italian sub back! I'll come back once more in about a month or so, but if you don't improve your sub bread and pay closer attention to maintaining quality ingredients, my household can no longer support your business.

UPDATE: I'm glad management read and responded, and as I said in my review, I look forward to trying once again in the near future. I do want to add that had I consumed my order on premises (which is not possible), I would have started with in-person feedback. I have found, however, that fair, detailed online reviews make the quickest and best impact. I look forward to a positive update to...

Just stopped back in. Gas station is under construction and a bummer for Flip Flop. Their salads are amazing! Heaping! And fast and friendly service. Please support this local Tequesta gem.

Perfectly sliced, fresh meats and cheeses. The best party platters around! So good for a quick bite and a fountain soda and the perfect spot to pick up subs before you head out on your boat. Oh, and if you are watching your carbs, they have lettuce wrap subs and salads...

This place had THE BEST subs around. Period. Then, in the last month or so something changed. New ownership? I don't know. But the subs are noticeably smaller now and the bread is terrible. My subs today felt like they were on slightly stale oversized hot dog buns, not the sub rolls I have come to expect from this place. So disappointed. I may give them one more try to see if they improve, but if things stay they way they are now I won't...
