We have been eating at this restaurant for years. We’ve always been very satisfied with the service and the food. However, last Sunday we went (party of 4) and the service was TERRIBLE.
I will take a little bit of the blame because we are accustomed to going on Friday or Saturday for dinner, and have never been on a Sunday before. We did not realize that they close at 9:00 on Sunday and we arrived at 8:00 PM. But what made me so upset is that one of the female servers was sweeping (and sweeping very hard and very fast) right in our direction as we tried to enjoy our dinner. She was pushing debris right towards our table. *We were seated right next to the cash register. And as if that was not bad enough, she also mopped the floor, including right in front of the cash register where folks are expected to go and pay their bill. Despite the very slow service, we still were going to manage to get out of the restaurant before they closed, if she had NOT mopped the floor while we were still sitting at the table.
My youngest son has had 8 knee surgeries, my oldest son had a knee surgery and my husband has had a knee surgery, so we were not about to leave the table and cross a wet floor just to get out of their way by 9:00. We waited until the floor dried before we left, and still managed to get out by 9:10.
I completely understand they want to get their side work done and clock out and go home. But for the love of God, customer satisfaction and customer safety should ALWAYS take precedence. I thought it was extremely rude of this girl to be sweeping debris in our direction and mopping so that we could not safely stand up. We could handle the slow service but I felt she was trying to send us a message “You came late and we want to go home…..get out!”
Another thing is that my husband ordered a steak dinner and asked for “red potatoes” with his steak and they brought him flimsy, cold French fries. He said something and asked for his red potatoes that he ordered and shortly after they brought him some “white potato fries” which was still not what he ordered and paid for. But he is not one to complain so he kept them. I tasted them and they were awful. They were under cooked and flavor-less!
There are a ton of Mexican restaurants in Terre Haute. We live clear down south, by Regional Hospital. We could go anywhere we please, but we always drove out of our way to eat here, but it was the LAST TIIME we eat here. I’m done.
I was a restaurant owner years ago, and I can tell you this is no way to treat your customers. I have also worked at Olive Garden as a server and as a hostess so I know a thing or two about restaurant and hospitality. Final thought: Very...
Read moreAll was great, food, service, waitress, atmosphere...until a food deliverer slammed and slid a plate across the table, spilling a 20oz Dr Pepper onto me and a friend next to me in my lap, all over my purse, his lap and all over his phone and left! Not so upset over that, accidents happen... Totally pissed off when the cashier, who was the manager, threw us about 6 napkins to clean it up ourselves and then ran and hid in the kitchen! Waitress came, upset and sorry and brought towels apologizing. By then it had soaked into the torn cushions for us to sit in and enjoy our meal? Went to cash register to pay for meal ( while manager hid in kitchen, laughing) Told the girl at register at least should have been 1 out of 6 free meals. She then apologized and got the manager. All he did was laugh! It was all funny to him! The girl kept apologizing. I told her, her nor the waitress did any wrong, all I wanted was an apology from that fat bald manager to which all he did was laugh. He thought the whole thing was funny! Me being the the bigger, Better person, paid for the meal and left, never to return again! If you're going to run a business in America, the least you could do is speak English and as anybody running a business, the customer is usually always right and should be treated with respect! I haven't been this angry in almost 30 years. This manager gave no free meal, no apology, No help! Very rude and disrespectful!!! May you soon loose...
Read moreWow. I would have put 0 stars but I wasn't able to. First thing I have to say about la Isla is I used to love their food. However now I have changed my mind. I have gotten food poisoning twice now. This time I called just to let them know(I didn't ask for a refund or anything) and i got told by the "manager" that no one else had gotten sick so I must be lying. Then he proceeded to tell me to go to the hospital and they would happily pay my medical bills. I have insurance and informed them of this. And they toldtme because I got it delivered how do I know that it was them that got me sick and tried to pin the blame on the delivery driver, then they hung up on me. Needless to say I will never get food...
