We were driving from Indianapolis to the St. Louis area and wanted to stop in Terre Haute for dinner. We love trying new places and thought this place would be nice. We made reservations based upon our arrival time. When we got there there were two doors. One said “lounge dining restaurant entrance must be 21 or older to enter,” and then there was another entrance as well. We didn’t know which entrance to enter, but we figured it really didn’t matter. We went into the lounge door, and they asked if we had reservations, and we said we did. They were unable to find our name on the list. They asked if we made our reservations with the front or the back. I didn’t know exactly what they meant. They didn’t offer to check for us or anything. We left and went to the other door, and they had our reservations. I’m sure for people from Terre Haute, they are used to the process, but for someone passing by, it could have been more clear.
My husband ordered the fillet special. It was delicious. I ordered chicken fettuccine. The sauce tasted sour, but at first I thought it was just me. We asked the waitress if it had something in it that would make it sour, and she said it had sour cream. She offered to take it off our bill, but I told her not to worry about it because I had already eaten half of my food. I should have said something sooner. My husband loves spumoni, so he ordered some. It was really good. When our bill arrived, we noticed they had taken the chicken fettuccine off the bill, even though I told her it was OK. I will definitely go back if we are passing through again. I will just order...
Read moreMet with my 86 year old grandfather and my fiancee for an impromptu dinner this saturday, November 4th. Overall the food was great just like it usually is except 3 things on which I am VERY disappointed in. The "filet mignon " was absolutely NOT a filet. While it was cooked correctly, it had ZERO seasoning and tasted as if the grill hadn't been cleaned in quite some time. The meat looked as if it had been bought at a truckload sale and had to be cut open from a package. For what was charged I feel as if this is kind of a slap to the face and it is certainly NOT acceptable. The side of broccoli that came with the "steak" seemed as if it was just thrown in the microwave as if it were steamed. Zero flavor and mostly just stalks. Also NOT acceptable. Our server didnt offer us refills on any of our drinks until it was almost time to settle up. Usually a server will fill up your glass well before it gets half empty.
The meal was 95$ and not at all worth it. Stick to the pasta I suppose...
While we have been here many, many times. I seriously will reconsider spending my hard earned money here again. Very very disappointed.
Please someone from Pilonis contact me. I would like to see...
Read moreI was craving pasta in an unfamiliar city and I did some googling and found a nice place called Piloni’s. I went relatively early in the day so the restaurant wasn’t too busy , but they have seats aplenty! I was greeted promptly and seated at the bar and the bartender/server there was very kind and talked to me about the menu. I already had penne vodka on my mind and notice they have a half serving or a whole. Let me tell you, that half serving was more than enough and if you are one person you could probably have another little meal later. Which is never a bad thing. My favorite part though was the calamari, I know that mind sound kind of weird seeing as how it wasn’t an entree but these were the best breaded calamari I’ve had, crunchy but super soft at the same time, calamari mouth love. I also ordered a side of fried veal with my pasta and that was also good as well. I ate too much but still ordered dessert to go. I didn’t capture the magic sugar moment but I got the tuxedo cake which I was told was one of their popular choices. So if you haven’t tried Piloni’s, do it. Like now....
