Federal Coffee + Fine Foods — Restaurant in Terre Haute

I only give the food three stars, as it is pricey for the portion (and going up very day, $10 dollars for a ham, egg and cheese on a croissant? I understand this business caters to campus heavily, but local people really like this place and want to be able to eat here too!) and inconsistent in it's quality-- I feel like there are two to three people making the food, and one of them does not season the chicken salad when it is their turn to make it, and they also shred it into an almost pasty texture. The person who makes the chicken salad seasoned with the appropriate amount of thyme, salt etc., and is shredded chunky, please never change your methods!

Additionally there was no physical signage, indication or mention of the lunch menu being seasonal on the premise, nor is the change noted anywhere on their very nicely crafted website.

These things aside, the espresso cannot be beaten, and the cozy location and atmosphere are lovely-- Federal is a wonderful pick-me-up in the morning or afternoon, and the staff is always friendly and accommodating! The music is set to the perfect volume, there are many places to sit, and there is a wonderful, sunny view of the hustle and hustle of downtown.

I would highly recommend Federal for coffee and espresso, not to mention their fun seasonal drink options, I would not recommend if you wanna eat economically; the one exception is the nooks and crannies-- this English muffin masterpiece has come in clutch for me so many times, and I'm really hoping it stays at the 5$ price point for as long as possible! Update from last visit yes score has now dropped to one from three after two more visits neither done correctly at all. Again this time good luck can't get ahold of anyone to get anything fixed and both days orders flat out done wrong. This week was in the mood for a good hot mocha as they had pictured and what I received both times you could have made at home out of a box. All directions ignored and both times for straight mocha nothing added and no garnish. Attached is picture of text son showed them with what was wanted with picture of what they claim their mocha is and second is actually what I got not once but twice three days apart. 🙄😡Been here twice on our out of town business trip. Went yesterday and got a good frozen chocolate frapachino so sent my adult special needs son there today from our hotel to get breakfast wanting same thing. He stated he wanted frozen chocolate toffee and they asked him iced or hot. He didn't know better and said iced since apparently they didn't listen to him saying frozen so thought perhaps some reason they couldn't today and thought no more of it. He got to the room and it wasn't even a chocolate toffee frapachino but rather a mocha espresso. Definition not at all what I wanted. After hours of trying to call.with no answer, emails unanswered and even Facebook messenger ignored guessing it's a loss cause. Prefacing by saying the owners were lovely and I do not wish them any Ill will
