I have supported your establishment since it was created by dining in and also purchasing company lunches throughout the years, and this experience is not what i am used to. You are giving me excuses instead of owning up to your shortcomings and not taking ownership for mistakes made to customers such as myself. I paid $42 for 2 plates, I should be able to scrutinize a meal that I paid my hard earned money for, especially when it cost more than most finer establishments in our area. Some kind of leadership during my undesirable visit to "big jakes" would have most likely prevented the poor performance displayed by your"staff". With that being said, my purchase and visit was bad enough to inspire me to leave this very blunt review that was not exaggerated at all by any means. I'm sorry that you don't appreciate me telling you exactly where your staff failed during my visit but that was my experience unfortunately and that's why it's called a review. Hopefully you can turn a negative into a positive and use feedback such as this to possibly give future customers a better experience.
UPDATE 09/13/22 We made the mistake of visiting this awful establishment again, shame on us. Same "Large" plate and beef sandwich ordered now cost us $42, lol! They were out of baked potatoes of course so we ordered potato salad and okra. Hardly received any potato salad because the young man making it was so high, he put it in dine-in containers. He then scraped what he could out into to-go containers, this was after he could not place our order due to his 5 star high he had, so a young lady helped out while he went and satisfied his munchies instead of working. This young lady also couldn't figure out how to ring up my order so another young lady had to come help. My okra was half cooked and the brisket was terrible, all 4 small slices. I would like to call Texarkana police because these people are robbing customers, literally. Bbq isn't this expensive to create and Big Jakes should be ashamed to charge this much for garbage. AVOID...

I never have anything to complain about here. The BBQ meats are mouthwatering, especially Big Jake's BBQ chicken breasts, BBQ sliced beef and BBQ pulled pork. All the expected sides are here for the choosing too... from french fries, potato salad, to the fried okra done just right, or a steaming bowl of seasoned pinto beans... There's something for everyone at Big Jake's.
Great for lunch or dinner, and all times between and after. And, usually, this location is not too busy for my tastes at any time. Big Jake's hits the spot like nothing else.
Love the BBQ sauce, too. Freshly made fried pies (chocolate, cherry, etc.) are favorites of many patrons, for those of you with a sweet tooth.
A drive thru window makes quick enough of the ins and outs at Big Jake's when your schedule just doesn't have time for a dine-in experience.

Read moreBig Jake's bbq is a must stop when you are in Texarkana. With three locations, you are near a Big Jake's no matter the part of town you are visiting. The prices are very good, with a meal and drinks costing my wife and I around $25. One important thing I like; happy employees. We have been eating at Big Jake's for some twelve years and I have never had an unpleasant experience. My favorite meats are ribs, and chicken breast. Other treats include chopped or sliced brisket, hot sausage, and turkey. The beans are among the best you will eat. Get this; beans are free! Also served are fried pies to help round out your...
