Enjoyed it, first time there established by invite in which was a nice retreat from all the noise of a commercially functioning restaurant. The menu is charming as a bed in breakfast, having from french toast to rib eye steak. Atmosphere was bland but the waitress brought it home with a welcoming smile though she was really having to hustle around to get tables served and maintained.
I had of course my default love, Breakfast during Lunch hour, choosing the French Toast, Scrambled Eggs, and Bacon for desert. I was set back by my coke order beit came in a can and a glass of ice. The waitress warned me 😉 but it being a small like dining restaurant on it's way up, it was a simple acceptable practice, that didn't sway my joy of it over all. Sometimes we get so use to things much like as if we all were cattle going to a feeding troth, it's good to have a kind neighborhood family like style to take us back. Almost want say; "Thanks mom, that was good." before shuffling outside to do my chores of the day.
I will return, and try the coffee and must say the waffles were looking good as well. There's the trusted standbys like your Chicken Fried Steak, Fried Chicken, Catfish, Burgers of variety etc. Check out the menu.
Nice way to start a New Year, thanks Johnny B's. P.S. My wife is very picky on Banana Pudding, and you guys made the mark! It was an excellent suggestion by the waitress, till...
Read moreI eat here 2-3 times a week. The diner-like atmosphere is casual and friendly. The food is usually pretty good, and a lot of people must think so because the restaurant stays busy--usually too busy for the amount of staff they have working. They give the best service they can, considering, and I find that to be the case no matter what time I dine here. One server has extremely long nails, which aren't unattractive, but having worked in food services/hotels and having a limited understanding of food sanitation, I've always been taught that nails that length are a hazard to any plate she touches. She wasn't our server, whom we saw only once, but she brought us our food; she was friendly. One of the pass through windows from the kitchen to the dining room has had a leak above it for a very long time. There's a container placed there, filling with water from this leak. This container gets full, and sometimes the drip is kind of rapid/heavy, so a diner can watch this water splash onto to the table-top supplies kept nearby. When I realized the kitchen staff is working just on the other side of the window, and the leaking water is splashing in that direction too, I had to wonder how much of that water was getting onto the surfaces in the kitchen--or...
Read moreTried Johnny B's after a suggestion from coworkers. Wanted to try their steak and see what it is like. Plus they have breakfast choices all day. From the outside the restaurant looks small but is plenty big. You get to seat yourself and there was plenty of seating. The staff was very friendly and always attentive to what we need. The food took a little while but I believe it was my steak that held things up. The fried pickles were excellent. I'm not a huge fan of fried pickles but I ate a lot of them. My wife said her breakfast was great. Her only issue was the eggs still had a tiny bit runny white parts. My baked potato was good and it has real bacon on it not bits. The steak however was very disappointing. It was supposed to be a ribeye but looked and tasted more like a sirloin. There was no crust on it and was even a little more rare than medium rare as ordered. I am still open to go back again. And since most everything else was great I will for sure give a good rating. Als they were very attentive to my shellfish allergy and I had no issues after. Give them a try if...
