Casa Fiesta — Restaurant in Texas City

I have always enjoyed this place. However, today was so bad that I do not plan on returning. I will go elsewhere. Since we were basically the only patrons there, I expected better service. The waiter did check on us from time to time. However, not once did he smile. Walked around with a blank and bored look on his face. Did not seem to enjoy his job. We had to ask for another set of utensils, since the ones we were given we’re still very dirty. I also had to ask the waiter to please warm my food. It was barely luke warm when it was served. My mother had ordered the Chile relleno, which was saturated in grease and very soggy. The waiter never apologized for the dirty utensils and never apologized for the food being cold. Just sort of made a face. I normally overlook a lot of things when dining out or at a store…as I too wooed in the hospitality industry. This experience was so disappointing. The taste of the food was something you might would get out of a can. Not sure if it was or not. Anyway, sadly...

I took my family for lunch while we waited to go to the arcade and our waitress was very sweet and attentive, but when we first came in, a man, who I’m assuming is the owner because of the way he was acting sat us at a table that hadn’t been cleaned. Previous plates still on table. Food and water still on the table. Along with their bill. He was a bald guy. Some hair on the sides. Short. Once we were served our food, it was very bland. It was edible but bland.

We noticed a woman come in shortly after our food got to the table and she ordered a margarita with salt. The bald man ran to the bar and prepared the drink. When he dipped the glass into the salt and it didn’t stick, he licked his index finger and rubbed it around the rim and dipped it into the salt again.

I would have left one star if it were not for...

Not bad at all. I've eaten at every Mexican restaurant in Texas City and neighboring cities for the last 35 years. As a creature of habit and ADHD food fixation I always get the same thing my first few visits at a new place and if they don't hit the spot I'll never go back. I definitely plan on going back here, and the price didn't hurt their chances either. Was $20 less than me and my wife normally pay for the same meal at the spot we normally eat closer to our house. Which I passed on as a tip for the young kid waiting on us , who not for lack of trying still has a few aspects of the job to practice on if he's going to make any money.
