Please listen to the negative reviews of this place!!! My boyfriend and I read them and decided to try it out anyway. What a mistake that was!! We ordered the Cajun Nuts and we both ordered 2 pounds of crawfish. The Cajun Nuts and service were okay. Everything else was terrible! The bathroom hallway and the bathroom itself smelled horrible. It was dirty and full of trash. The crawfish were so over cooked that we could barely peel them. The ones we could peel fell apart in our hands. After the first few, I started counting and had TWELVE that were completely inedible. After we struggled halfway through, I spoke to a manager. Before I even said anything, she looked at my plate and said “Are they not good?” I said “No ma’am they aren’t. And quite frankly, I’m pretty upset about it.” She said she would take them off of our bill. I said that was not my intention. I just wanted her to talk to the staff so that it didn’t happen to someone else. The crawfish were disgusting. She said she was not going to make us pay for them if they were disgusting and walked off with our plates. She returned with our waitress about 15 minutes later. She said “I didn’t realize the boss was here. He only took off a pound. I’m sorry.” I just looked at her for a second as I was processing what she said, and our waitress said “Well, you ate all of them.” (This is not true. As stated above, we only made it about halfway through the 4 pounds we ordered.) I said “No, I understand. As I said earlier, I wasn’t trying to get out of paying for them. Did you at least speak to him about the situation? The crawfish were awful and I don’t want someone else to end up in this situation. She said “Yes, I told him.” And walked away. Our waitress left the corrected bill and walked away. Not only are we upset about the absolutely atrocious food, but also the fact that management lied to us about something that didn’t even matter to us. We definitely will not be returning! I suggest you steer clear of...

I’ve been stopping in once a week for the past few weeks to get a snack & a cocktail to go. 2 of weeks I was served by Lauren, who has amazing customer service skills & makes the best cocktails I’ve ever had. Unfortunately tonight Lauren was not the one who took my phone order, nor made my drink. Usually Lauren’s cocktails will last me a couple of nights & have a nice buzz. Tonight my cocktail was flavored water & even after drinking the entire thing, didn’t even feel like I’d had even 1 shot of alcohol. I have 2-3 alcoholic drinks a week & even if the drink isn’t strong, can always taste alcohol somewhere in it. I am still trying to figure out if they forgot the alcohol completely because I didn’t get a buzz & I sure as heck couldn’t taste any alcohol at all. I called maybe 8 minutes before I picked up the food. The cocktail was sitting on the counter in a to go cup & the blonde waitress filled it to the brim with ice. From the first to the last sip - it tasted like candy water with zero alcohol content. I don’t mind paying $10 or $12 for a cocktail - but I at least expect there to be some sort of alcohol in it....

The onion rings were as good as always, the jalepeno cheese were gross & we threw them out.. While I think Lauren is a wonderful asset to the business, I’d rather go spend $30 anywhere else after tonight.. We’ll...

We only went for the margaritas because a neighbor told us they were really good. I asked the waiter which margarita was the one that everyone talks about. He told me the margarita between the top-shelf & the house margarita was the one most people bought & it was also the strongest. The two of us ordered those & some hot wings because we had eaten dinner before leaving home. The wings were very good. The margaritas weren't frozen enough but tasted pretty good. We ordered one margarita to go to split between the two of us. The price of the to-go margarita was $17 for the same size I get at other Mexican restaurants for much less. I always drink two margaritas wherever I go with no problem. I only took a couple of sips of the to-go margarita when I got home & started feeling bad. I laid down in bed & tossed & turned because I was so dizzy. I had to force myself to throw up. I have not felt that sick after drinking a couple of margaritas in many years. I told my boyfriend that it felt like I had drank some very cheap "rot-gut" liquor. I stayed lying down most of the next day. I tossed the rest of that very expensive margarita...

Well normally I like The Reef. But the last two times I have gone the food is o.k. but far from the old days. Tonight was BAD!!! The food was decent and the service was decent. However... I know we had a large group but The Reef majorly screwed up our orders. Some of our table did not get their food until70% of our table was finished eating! They did not get their food until after 30% of our table asked for their bill. But every did finish their meal before any one got their tab. My wife and I waited 45 minutes for our bill, 45 MINUTES! Not once did the owner/manager or assistant manager/owner come by the table and offer any explanation or apology. Then after all that not charge us for our tea, coffee or soft drinks, SERIOUSLY? Should have knocked at least 25-35% off every one's tab...wait that might have taken another 45 mins. Sorry to say it will be a long time before I go back.

Went here with my family on a Monday Night. There's plenty of tvs if someone is looking for a place to watch Monday Night Football. The service was exceptional, someone constantly stopped by our table to check on us, from the hostess to the manager. The food was good for the most part the only negative thing for me was the dish I ordered was a chicken plate and it was grilled chicken strips (3 I was expecting a chicken breast- made me feel like a kid) also the refried beans didn't taste fresh they tasted like they were canned ( I know the difference I've used both) happy hour drinks were good. I would consider going back again mainly for the service and trying a different dish.

Big News!! The Reef is now owned by the folks who own the very good Casa Fiesta across Palmer! This means 2 things; Seafood at The Reef IS NOW as great, as consistent as Casa Fiesta - the opposite of what The Reef had deteriorated to under former ownership AND... Texas City will now have a GOOD Seafood House again!! It's been a loooong time. All the old dusty clutter is gone, the dining room bright and clean! Our dinner, from their now-simpler menu was delicious!! Fresh fish, shrimp and oysters, homemade onion rings and very good service! Give Ray and his staff your confidence, we will happily return. Thanks for a great first visit!! The NEW Reef IS worth a try!
