Fortune — Restaurant in Texas City

Upon arriving we were taken to our table . A few moments later server came and took our drink order . While glancing the menu we overheard two customers arguing with the manager saying “ Look at it. It looks disgusting .“The manager Replied “ We have to look at the food next time. Food is number 1 priority here .” Not thinking anything of it we placed our order and waited. Our soups came out and I reached for the spoon only to see a dead horse fly leaning on the edge of the bowl. We immediately called the server and she not saying a word reached for the bowl and took it away . Expecting the manager to come out we waited . We received our food and began to eat it . Upon leaving we walked to pay our bill and we asked the man sitting behind the counter if he was the manager . He replied “ Yes I am .” We began to tell him what we had experienced at his restaurant. He replied saying “ I always tell our server that they have to look at the plate .” We told him that it was not the servers fault. He replied with “ Yes we have a lot of bugs but we are by the car wash so we have a lot of bugs. “ then he said, “ We have to look into a system that sucks the bugs into the air when the door opens.” The manager should take a class in Restaurant Management. I used to eat at the Fortune Restaurant on Palmer Hwy when I lived in Texas City, which was regularly throughout 1990-2005. Now, we stop here randomly, as we go thru Texas City. In the past, the place was always clean and staff appeared organized, helpful and efficient. Fortune was always busy, both lunch and supper, full of customers and always welcoming! The wait was short and never over 10 minutes! Quickly seated, service was quick, coming to the table at the right times, not too much or not enough and the food was delicious, vegetables and meat cooked correctly and delivered to table at appropriate level of heat, seasoningsand taste However, last weekend we went in to eat. The parking lot was nearly empty at 5:30pm, only 3 tables had people seated, the rest were empty, the place did not appear as clean as before. Service was slow, but the orders were correct. The food was so overly "Heat Hot," and the flavor was actually awful. For years I've always ordered the same meal, "Shrimp with a Lobster Sause," and I loved it! This time the food had a pungent strong fish odor, the vegetables were cooked to a hard texture, the shrimp taste was off and even the egg drop soup looked and tasted like water and typically, I love egg drop soup from everywhere! This will be our last stop at the Fortune Restaurant, in Texas...

I wish I could give 0 stars.... I stopped to get food on my way to work and I ordered vegetable fried rice and a couple other items. Got to work only to realize that my order was wrong. I called the restaurant immediately to express my frustration and was told, by the manager that my next order of rice would be free. So, when I stopped by today on my way to work, the manager argued with me about the rice and claimed to have no recollection of the incorrect order. The sweet and sour pork and sweet and sour chicken were horribly overcooked, as you can tell by the photo I included. RIDICULOUS, AS IF SOMEONE WOULD ACTUALLY LIE ABOUT AN $8 RICE!!! I paid for my food and vowed never to return bcuz the quality is poor. Level of service is poor.......
