Waffle House — Restaurant in Texas City

My husband and I decided to go eat there for the first time last night,and I will have to say I am very disappointed. No one was there so I expected to get a good meal. The cook was sitting on a trash can looking at his phone and the waitress had to tell him to get up and he did not look very happy about it,in fact he turned to look at us with a sour look on his face as if we had interpreted his phone time .The menus were sticky and most of the tables were dirty. With no one else there that to me is unacceptable. I almost got up and walked out,but I was giving them the benefit of the doubt. That totally backfired on me because the food was horrible. Mind you, I ordered the steak and hash browns and had to ask for a knife after I attempted to cut it with the butter knife I was given. The steak was so salty and tough. The waitress did ask me if I wanted another but seeing how the cook gave me an awful look to begin with I really didn't want him preparing any more food for me,so i just dabbed it with a few napkins to get the salt off.If management is wondering why they are not getting any service then I would have to say hire better staff who actually wants to be working and earning their money instead of who they have. We were so excited to try this location out we were greeted with smiling faces when we walked in, our waiter Dillion did a great job getting our drinks and taking our order. The cook however was a complete mess. She burnt 4 waffles and blamed it on the waiter- who isnt allowed to touch the waffle makers-, was arguing with the poor waiter who was just trying to learn, she grabbed the bacon, chicken, and burger - didn't change her gloves- then grabbed our plates, spatula, hashbrowns, cheese, and so we walked out. The new Waffle House in Texas City is a breath of fresh air! We walked in and were immediately struck by how clean the restaurant was. It felt so welcoming, with friendly greetings from several staff members.

Our server was incredibly attentive – we hadn't even settled in before she was taking our drink orders. The best part? Our food came out exactly as we requested. I'm a stickler for my eggs – over medium, with cooked whites and a runny yolk – and they absolutely nailed it.
