Just moved to tomball from Katy and found a sushi gem outside of our new neighborhood. The first time we went was awesome. We had such a nice experience the first time, we took friends from out of town to come enjoy the experience with us on a Saturday night. We were absolutely mortified. Our server (David) handed us the check 30 minutes in, mid-meal, and asked us if we needed boxes. He came back 5 minutes later-mouths full of sushi- asking if we needed change for the checks that we never touched. He was so upset that we didn't pay the check yet, that he threw up his arms and said "my kids are waiting, y'all can have another server" and stormed off. Mind you, it's was 9:30, the restaurant closes at 10:30. Confused, and out of water, we waited for another server. No one came. So we finally asked for management. No management came by, but they sent over another server to pick up the slack who apologized profusely for the situation and admitted that he was only 2 days into the job, having no idea what was going on. They must have known he was awesome, because he made us feel better. HE was amazing. But, it's disheartening that the management didn't care enough to handle the situation, nor did they do anything to make things right. Everyone at our table has been in the service industry for many years. We are very forgiving when it comes to the food and beverage industry, understanding all aspects. This was inexcusable. Management needs to get more involved. Management did not handle this correctly. We will not be...

Update: Won't be returning, need to find another decent local fusion restaurant. I called the next day after the events below and the GM told me she would have comp'd us on next visit and would call me back after talking to the staff to see what happened. She didn't call me back. I ordered a few items today (2 days later) with a different phone and name to avoid having someone spit in my food. When I paid, I did claim the offer for the replacement roll. The GM said she was just about to call me... right. I didn't tip which is only marginally satisfying.

Original: I’ve been going to Akashi for years now. We normally do take out for my family on Sundays. Today, I saw an unfortunate series of events, poor management and customer service. After picking up a $130 order, they forgot one entree. How did I find out? I just made it home and received a call. They said I could come back and pick it up, but zero apology. I asked to speak to a manager. Val answered with no apology. Her resolution was for me to come pick up the item ($7.95 + a 45 min drive roundtrip which was a no brainer, no. My whole family was waiting to eat). When I asked if she would offer extra to recover the tip or for my trouble, the answer was no.

My expectation would be that Val should have offered $10 credit (at least). I like this place and always tip 20% on take-out but not anymore. I'll recover the cost to go back and the tip...

Interior was nice, food and service found to be sub-par. Ordered the only bento box on the menu and the item didn’t even come in a bento box, it was served on a plate after the server said it came in a bento box. After the “bento” came out, I waited for my order - a roll and the other person ate half their food before my roll even arrived. All this while the restaurant may have had only two occupied tables total. I could not imagine if the restaurant was full. Would that mean I would not get my order until it was time to check out?

Then I had to actually call their main number from my phone from the table to get the waitress to refill our water. Very sad.

Upon paying, she asked if we wanted some more water and we said yes...she never even bothered to come back as we sat their as she chitchats with the staff at the bar.

Sadly, this was a very poor experience especially on the service aspect. eating out is costly and you don’t expect a sub-par experience.

I should have read some of these reviews before I came here. I don’t even know why I even tipped the waitress...only out...

First I hate chain restaurants. However this neighborhood fusion place had good reviews, great food presentation, and it looked nice inside from previous reviewers. So Maria and I gave it a try. As expected is is a pretty place for a strip center with a nice bar and colored accent lighting throughout. We started with a glass of wine for Maria and a beer for me quickly followed by a tempura roll called the Mango Tango... not bad. We ordered the egg drop soup which was bland with the coconut curry chicken. The chicken curry was bad so we sent it back. It came with fried rice which should have gone back with the chicken. In place of the chicken we asked for the sweet fried pork. It was like spam deep fried at McDonalds... only with more grease. Service from David was not good even though there were only 6 tables occupied. I was very disappointed in Akashi but at least the bathrooms were clean.

Visited this place for the first time a few weeks ago and was very pleased. The staff was friendly and we were quickly seated. The view from the inside is cool and modern. I loved the giant windows that we were sat next too. It was a great view. They have a great selection of food, Chinese and Japanese. My husband and I ordered appetizers, sushi, soup, sake, and entrees and our bill was not expensive at all. The quality of the food was great! And the portions as well! This is also a great place to just go get some sushi because they have at least fifty different rolls. We had the Godzilla roll and it was delicious! We will definitely be back and continue to come here as long as our experience is the same.

The place is very nice with lots of space, nice booths and interior decoration. They have the Japanese wiskey barrels hanging on the bar wall. But that's it, the food is served in tiny portions and is not that tastefully. Usually, when sushi is small, it has to be very tasty to be good. I got the tuna sashimi, it was fresh but very tiny portions. The staff is very kind though 😊. I think that they can improve their lunch and dinner deals so more people step by, they are located on a very convenient area.
