This is the second time my husband and I have eaten at El Faro Mexican Food. We really like it. This place is VERY clean! Each time we ordered to pick up, the place was not busy at all! I hope whoever reads this review is encouraged to give it a try! I bet you won't regret it! The ladies were nice, and our food was ready by the time we walked inside. The first time we ordered from here, I got the Mole Enchiladas with rice and beans, and my husband got the Tex-Mex enchiladas with rice and beans. The mole enchiladas were absolutely delicious and spicy 😍 their rice is really good, I don't know what they put in it, but it's by far our favorite! My husband was very pleased with his Tex-mex enchiladas as well. The second time we ordered from them, I got the Chilaquiles with egg, potatoes, and refried beans, and my husband got the Beef fajita Chimichanga with beans and rice. The Chilaquiles were very good my husband stole a few bites haha! He devoured his Chimichanga, and just like last time, their rice is very delicious!

Oh man. This is a hidden gem, that is the literal truth. If you want real authentic Mexican food this is the place. It’s a husband and wife team, the recipes are from Guadalajara and seriously authentic. The husband wears the host, server, Busser and entertainer hat while the wife is in the back preparing the mind blowing meal. If you’re wanting the TexMex junk you see everywhere else this isn’t the place for you. Pull up your chair and sit back to a wonderful display of Mexican comfort food made with fresh ingredients by the hands of some genuinely sweet and customer focused business owners. I came for the lunch buffet and was surprised at the selection. Cheese enchiladas, tostadas, ceviche, freshly fried corn tortillas, fresh fried tilapia that’s been marinated over night, red chili pull pork, napalitas, fresh refried beans, fresh flour tortillas, Mexican rice, chilies with chicken stew. The salsas are freshly made, you gotta try the habanero salsa!! Mind you, I came in at the tail end of the buffet with 30mins before closing. Albeit the presentation could use some work but I’m not here to eat the presentation. The food was on point and my mouth is still watering thinking about what I just devoured. I don’t frequent buffets often but this one I’m coming back for and it’s convinced me to try their regular menu as well. Side note to the owners, the business sign above the front door is hard to read I couldn’t see it from the road and drove past the restaurant a couple times. Just wanted to bring that to your attention and to let everyone know they’ll need to look extra hard to find you. Gracias.

Perfectly fine, no-frills Mexican food. The portions were hearty and the service was fast. You could do better and worse. I get the sense that El Faro survived the pandemic by transitioning to heavily focus on takeout, and that they never really transitioned back. At 3pm on a Sunday afternoon, there were 3 ladies working when I arrived and 2 when I left—the cook and my server. I was the only other person in the building. There isn’t a bar, any TVs, or alcohol at El Faro. You aren’t going to casually sip a Modelo over tacos while watching a game. You could, however, fill up on fajitas and get out the door for $24 (with tip) in < 45 minutes. If you’re in the area before 3pm on a Sunday, or at any reasonable time on a weekday, and want dine-in Mexican, I’d recommend Ramos instead, which is < 5 minutes away off the Mopac frontage road. However, if you’re looking for quick Mexican takeout, and don’t want to melt in the Texas heat waiting at a taco truck, I’d order ahead and give this place a shot.

It was our first time eating here. We came for breakfast, and it was meh.

I wanted breakfast, so I asked for the chilaquiles and a cup of coffee, which sounded promising. My husband ordered migas and an unsweet tea. They brought my coffee, which was lukewarm, and my husband's unsweet tea about 5 minutes after we ordered it, after the waitress dropped the tray the first time while singing loudly in the back.

When the waitress brought our food, she forgot the tortillas for my husband's migas, and didn't notice that our beverages were below half-full. When she returned with the tortillas, she dropped them off and promptly returned to the kitchen, where she continued to belt out Tejano music with the radio, only stopping to help a walk-in customer who wanted to place a to-go order. I was out of coffee and water by this point, and my husband was out of iced tea, but we still had food on our plates. Food was ok, in terms of flavor. The sauces, both verde & roja, were so watery, it looked like we were eating huevos ahogados.

We looked over to the pass, hoping to catch our server's attention for a couple refills, and the waitress and cook appeared to be fighting with their cash register. The to-go customer eventually walked around to help them feed register tape into the printer so he could get his receipt, by which time his food was ready to go. He left, and our server returned to her vocal exercises, while we sat with empty cups.

My husband and i said screw it and finished our plates. I walked over to the pass and asked for a to go cup of tea, since we were both parched and needed to be on our way. Our server looked surprised, and came out to the table asking if we were ok? To which I said, yeah we're fine, but we need to go so we need the check. She delivered that after another 5 minutes.

We paid and left, and came to the mutual decision that we won't...

A friend tagged this place for the lunch buffet. I finally had a chance to come try it, and it was fantastic!

When I walked in around 11:45am, the place was packed! That's not hard to do, as it doesn't take many people to fill it up quickly.

Lunch is buffet-only. After they got my drink order, I went over to the buffet area. Being a cozy place, the buffet itself isn't large, but it has room for some nice surprises. I've only been once, but several other reviews suggested that the dishes change often and it's not the same-ol', same-ol'. Today featured carne asada, chiles rellenos, puerco de tres chilis, enchiladas, and some seasoned chicken legs. There was also rice, beans, taco and tostada fixins and a few other things as well.

All of the food was fresh, and warm. All of the employees kept constant watch over the contents and more food was always coming. A really nice touch was when one of the employees stopped by the table and offered us some fresh rice pudding as she was taking it out to the buffet. (Don't worry. It was in separate portion cups. There was no self-service, I promise!)

I almost forgot. They have some excellent hot sauces! I only tried three, but they were all fantastic! The creamy green sauce was spicy, creamy, and delicious. The salsa was flavorful and mild. The star for me was the creamy habanero sauce. It packs a powerful fiery punch in a creamy orange disguise. SO GOOD.

It seems as though the employees really care about this place. It was clean and bright. Everyone was really courteous and they were attentive about the food and the status of the drinks and empty plates. I will...
