We just got back from our first visit to Handel’s, which we drove 20 minutes to get to. My wife ordered 2 scoops in a cone, and when she got it, the top scoop fell off onto the ground within 5 seconds, before she even walked away from the counter.
We alerted a staff member, a brunette woman, to what happened and she said she’d make a new one, which we requested to be in a cup since the cone was stacked comically tall, and the ice cream was too cold for it to stick together properly, leading to it falling off.
The replacement had vanilla cake batter instead of chocolate cake batter. When we brought this up, this woman immediately became stand-offish and rude, saying “we’ll just fix that again, I guess” in a very annoyed tone.
To be clear, both my wife AND the male cashier who took our order had repeated what it was to her before she re-made it. She got it wrong, and then felt the need to be rude when we didn’t just accept the incorrect order.
The ice cream was very good, but we won’t be back because of this experience. Plenty of ice cream establishments closer to our home where the staff isn’t needlessly rude and...
Read moreHandel’s opened its Spring location not long ago, and man is it the post-lockdown treat we never knew we needed! 😆 They’ve got vegan options as well as a ton of other flavors to choose from, all served on your choice of tasty cones…my daughter recommends the chocolate and sprinkle dipped waffle cone…and it’s a solid one. The only rub I have is for the littlest of patrons, who still get a 3 scoop serving with their cone, why charge $.25 for the little clear plastic bowl? It’s Texas, ice doesn’t last long, and the bowl helps the little ones enjoy their cake cone with a single scoop while managing the impending ice cream soup that the other two turn into. (The free stack of napkins was much appreciated, however!) highly recommend this place for a post movie snack or just a random treat...
Read moreIce cream was great. 2 of the boys working there are great, but the young girl with dark hair working? She was so incredibly rude. She didn’t serve us, but she made us feel uneasy about being there because it was clear she did not want customers. She didn’t greet the customers, didn’t smile, and genuinely looked unhappy to be there. Even her tone of voice while she was calling out orders was off putting. We literally watched her slam the window closed on a customer while she was ordering from another employee. Her attitude was similar another time we were there, so we can’t even say she was having an off day. We will try again, but if she’s serving up attitude, we will resort to eating grocery store ice cream at home because me asking my teens to serve me will get me the same attitude...
