T Jin is my go to delivery Asian cuisine place, but I decided to try Hot Wok. I was disappointed all around. Delivery was estimated to be 35-40 minutes, but it was 60 minutes before our food arrived. The quality and flavor of food left much to be desired.
The Bo Bo Platter: Crab Ragoons were not very good with too much cream cheese and not enough flavor, the one chicken wing reminded me of a tasteless and stale KFC wing, the egg rolls were too greasy and also had an off putting flavor. The sweet and sour shrimp and friend shrimp were the best part of the platter, but not good enough that I would order them again.
Chicken Lo Mein: Standard and nothing too special, but acceptable flavor and tenderness of noodles and meat.
General Tso's Chicken Family Dinner: Decent flavor to the sauce, but the chicken breading was too soggy. T Jin's is far superior. Fried rice didn't appear to have any veggies or eggs in it, so wasn't particularly to my liking.
Beef with Broccoli Family Dinner: Good flavor and tenderness. Probably the best item we ordered. Ordered white rice, but got fried.
Won Ton Soup: Pretty standard. Not the best and not the...
Read moreThe lady there just HUNG UP on me! I tried to order the two dishes I wanted as family dinners. She said that was not an option for one of them. I told her, "ok, I want the items from the family dinner for that one too, so can you just add them?" she said again that it wasn't an option to get that as a family dinner. I thought she thought I was trying to get them for free so I clarified, "I want the items added, I understand it will cost extra. That's fine." She said I could not do that. I was baffled and said they must have an option for ordering those things separately, that I wanted an egg drop soup, an order of egg rolls, side of rice, and an order of crab ragoons added. She told me the prices for all those things. Relieved that we finally understood each other, I said "That's fine. Thank you." Then she, sounding very rude, said "You just need to come here and look at the menu and order here" and hung up. I still don't understand...
Read moreI stopped in for a cup of soup because it's raining and I'm chilly...surprising in Texas, right!
Anyway, I ask the server can you sit as the restaurant had ample vacant seats. She said sure. So, I ask which seat has a plug in so I can charge my phone while I eat. She says oh no.....no. I then say fine, I better order to go. I proceed to order a cup of the egg drop soup from the menu then the server ask if anything else. I say no. She says, your total is $4+. I ask why when the menu shows the price of the soup to be $2.95. She says it's because of crispy noodles. I tel her I only asked for the soup. She adjusts the price to $3+ cash only. I then decide nope....this 'seems' too much. So, I leave. Why can't these places have servers with better service mindset and explain what is being charged to customers. Btw, I examined the menu again and no where did I see any indication of an automatic charge of $1+ for...
