I've done 25+ escape rooms in Houston, St. Louis and Los Angeles. This is one of the worst. I did give an extra star because the place was clean and the host/game master was nice. But, I like my rooms to be immersive. It wasn't. The Wednesday room is barely decorated. They had a nice statement piece on the wall, but if you've never watched the newer shows you wouldn't even know. My friend told me what it was. And when you need a clue, what little immersion there is becomes broken because the gamemaster comes in and is like so have you done this yet? Clearly not paying attention and not even in character. In Sugarland there is an escape room that excels at having a good storyline with all the puzzles and gamemaster being a part of that story. They could learn something from other escape rooms. Even the puzzles were confusing even after being explained, nothing really made sense. They were puzzles for the sake of puzzles and difficult to the point where you would have to ask for a clue but then when you got it it wasn't light bulb moment. It was more like why would anyone make it like that without even a hint in the other clues that you would have to trace this out. Also, I believe all the good reviews are from novices, their friends or the fact that they ask you to write a good review and show it to them to spin a wheel and get a prize. I feel like I wasted my time, money and other people's time on this birthday excursion....
Read moreWe called to aak about canceling for a family emergency and Mike informed us "You know those things you agreed to when you made the reservation? One was a no refund policy". He wasn't the politest person. He then told us we could reschedule next week and that was him doing his best to accommodate us but we tried to explain that we may be planning a funeral next week or the week after so rescheduling an escape room probably won't be at the forefront of our mind. We understand 'no refund' policies but we were hoping maybe for a voucher or something where we could attend at a later date. Even a little cancelation fee. So FYI, if you book a room and have an unexpected hospitalization or death, you won't get a refund or a voucher to attend at a later time.
** Update- The owner did reach out and offered a voucher for us to attend at a later date. Thank you so much for your understanding and accommodating us during this difficult time. We...
Read moreThis is our 3rd time at this location. This was the very first escape room we (my son & I) have ever attempted a year ago their “Speakeasy” room. It opened up our love for escape rooms. Since, we have visited over 10+ different locations and not one place has come close to the quality Mike, the creator has built at both “Escape Artist’s” locations. The details, puzzles, trap doors, and props are 5 star top quality. We love both locations Kingwood & The Woodlands, however The Woodlands is our favorite as the rooms have “trap doors” that open up into another room. All of the hosts are extremely professional and friendly, and will help guide you at whatever level you would prefer. Last night, our host was Ava and she was AWESOME! We can’t wait for new rooms to open up here so...
