We fell in love with this property when we found it, and since then it is usually our go-to when we come to this area. However, it gets worse each time we stay, and that makes us very sad. It has a hip and relaxing vibe, the bed and linens are comfy, it's usually clean, and the rooms cool well. It also has a great pool area and that is often times why we book here. However, the customer service is absolutely horrible and that is enough to ruin a stay. We are loyal to IHG, but each time we book here I wonder why. We have encountered the same person the past two stays at the front desk that you cannot even understand due to a language barrier, and that is frustrating. Morning one I came down for coffee- there is none in the lobby- you must purchase it in the restaurant which is ok if the staff shows up. It should have been open, but lights were out and there were about 6 hotel guests sitting in the dark. I asked the front desk about coffee since the dining area was closed and they said to get it in dining. Pointed that way. Even after I confirmed what time they opened and it should have been open, no words, they just pointed me to the dining area. I waited as long as I could before we had to leave to make the drive home for an appointment. No coffee, no breakfast. We actually enjoy coming here and starting our day this way. Breakfast is reasonably priced and tasty, and typically a serene environment. I went to the desk and asked if we they could comp breakfast the next day only to be literally ignored and pointed to the dining room by the lady with the language barrier. I can't help but think it is frustrating for her too. Note: When we came to this area about a couple of months ago, they laughed at my husband's drivers license when we were checking in (yes, it is so awful it's humorous), and so they comped our breakfast. That's good customer service and little things like that keep people coming back and wanting to book with you. Turns out the staff for the dining area just didn't come to work. I realize there are some things out of your control, but offer something in return to make up for inconveniences, and have a plan B that goes into effect quickly. We never saw the bar open in our two nights of staying there. Again, no staff. Our room was serviced and towels not replaced. The bed was comfy and linens great. The room also cooled well which is a big bonus. We booked this property for a relaxing weekend and to get some extra rest. The bed can only help so much when the housekeeping staff BLARES and I mean BLARES the music so loud, you can't hear the person talking to you inside your room. You certainly can't sleep. They also BANGED and yelled on each door around us BEFORE CHECKOUT TIME. I do realize they need to get in and clean and we had a late checkout... again, to catch up on some rest and THAT DID NOT HAPPEN, but there has to be a better way to communicate who has checked out and who hasn't so that guests can rest. It was absolutely awful. On our late checkout day they disabled our cards. Yet another inconvenience. One thing after another, and there was NEVER an apology offered. This property could be a gem. It could feel as if you are staying at a luxury resort if it were ran well and great customer service was a priority. I HATE that we WASTED our free night on this miserable getaway. We are loyal Platinum Elite members. Maybe we should reconsider...

I chose this hotel for a staycation for New Year's Eve. I wanted a little getaway that was close by and this was perfect and an amazing value for the price! Here's the details from my experience:
Pros • Lakeside - I wanted to be near water and the hotel has a lake at the rear and a short walking trail alongside it.
• Lake view room without extra cost - I was able to get a room with a lake view without an upcharge.
• Quiet - it is secluded and off the beaten path making it very quiet, which was what I was looking for.
• Heated pool - my first day was in the low 70s so I and a few other guests were able to enjoy the heated pool. Such a nice feature for the winter time! You could see the steam coming off of it and it was definitely warmer than lukewarm, almost like a large hot tub.
• Fire pit - guests can turn on the fire pit themselves at any time and I loved this feature and used it both day and night just to relax and also do some journaling.
• Microwave on 3rd floor - this was a great feature that I wish more nicer hotels had. I get that most nicer hotels don't have them in all the rooms, but just simply having access to one was really convenient.
• Restaurant - the onsite restaurant had great food and the chef was accommodating to my good requests.
• Happy Hour - I didn't get to join the Happy Hour but thought it was nice that they had it.
• Text concierge - a few minutes after I arrived, I received a text from the concierge asking how everything was and if I had any questions. I thought this was great and saved me time going to the front desk every time I had a question!
• Late check out at 2pm - as an IHG rewards member, they let me have late check out when I checked in, so I got to really enjoy my last day without being rushed. I appreciated that they let me do it in advance vs having to call the same day as check out as some places do. Just know that your keys automatically disable at 11am, so you'll need to go to the front desk to have them reactivate them if you're going in and out.
• Owners are kind people - I happened to meet the 2 hotel owners when I was there for New Year's Eve. They were very nice and asked me how my food and stay was and if there was anything they could do to make it better. I appreciated that they cared and asked for my feedback.
• Very different from Hotel Indigo in The Galleria in terms of vibe - I thought they'd be similar but this one is more inspired by Spanish Mission style architecture and is a little more sophisticated than the more casual nautical style that the Galleria location has.
Cons • Restaurant not open during lunch hours - restaurant was closed from 10am after breakfast to 5pm for dinner. This didn't bother me and I planned around it by ordering a pizza to go with my dinner on the 1st night to put in the refrigerator in the room and warm up in the microwave on the 3rd floor. • No complimentary water in room - I brought my own, so this didn't bother me either and there's bottles available for purchase in the lobby. • I wish there were blocks or stepping stones for crossing from the hotel to the walking trail. It would be easier than walking through the grass and trying not to step on dog droppings but not a huge deal.
I loved everything about my stay and have already recommended it to family and friends and will definitely be...
