Bland food Cramped/uncomfortable atmosphere Poor service Don't waste your money here.
I am not a terribly picky person, but I haven't been this disappointed in a dining experience in quite a while. For the price you pay there are plenty of other options in town that offer a far better experience. Hell even the sports bar across the street is a better spot to spend your money.
The food, service, and atmosphere are all lacking in their own ways. The food was on par with what you would find at a Chinese buffet not a good Hibachi restaurant. The food was bland and lacking anything close to resembling flavor (minus salt). The chicken was dry and the steak was tough and some how extremely chewy at the same time? The "chef" working the hibachi grill at our table literally threw our food on the plates and made quite the mess in doing so. The amount of rice, noodles, and vegetables that ended up on the table from this was quite off putting. He also excluded one member of our party when serving out the rice? He made zero acknowledgement of this and it was quite strange. The chef also didn't care who ordered what and just put the cooked food on whatever plate he pleased? What happens if someone cant eat a certain food (for whatever reason whether it be religious reasons, allergies, etc) and that happens to be the plate that the chef chooses? Plus not all the meals are the same price and if I had paid for the most expensive meat on the menu, I would be a little peeved if it went to someone else. Every other Hibachi place I have ever been to, the chef will ask you what you ordered so that he is able to make sure the correct food goes to the correct person. This is something so simple that Ichiban seems to be lacking. Also the chef is pretty careless with the whole fire show, how he still has eyebrows is beyond me.
In the hour and half we spent there, our waiter checked on us maybe twice. I had to get up and find him to order another drink. The place itself is so poorly ventilated you feel like you are walking into a steam room at the gym. They have like 6-7 hibachi tables all crammed into this tiny area and the air quality is greatly affected by it. The tables are so close I could feel the heat from the fire coming from an entirely separate table (not the table that is shared with another party, but a complete separate table).
I spent upwards of $60 on just myself and about 75% ended up going in the trash. Do yourself a favor and spend your money elsewhere. Ichiban could flourish if changes were made, but until that happens I wont be returning and will make sure to inform others of the...
Read moreWhen we first entered, we were told it would be a 30 minute wait and we were welcome to have appetizers in their dining room and drinks which we did. An half hour later, we were assured that it would be only 5 more minutes and they were cleaning a table. That was the last we saw any waitress or waiter. In the meantime, three or four families came in behind us and were also set aside to wait. Another 30 minutes went by and we were still waiting without any word. Finally, a member of our party went back up to the host/hostess to talk to someone. In the meantime, a woman came by dressed like a manager and assured us AGAIN it would be another 5 minutes and they were cleaning a table. The member of our party came back and told us the host said it would likely be another HOUR wait and claimed we were told when we entered that it would have been an hour wait. We told him it had already been an hour wait. Then, we watched the host and manager have a lengthy discussion pointing at a similarly sized party that had come in after us. Finally, we watched as that very same host proceeded to lead that family to their table. We left at that point. Unprofessional, lack of communication between workers and just all around bad customer service. Do not eat here unless you want to be overlooked or wait a long time. Plus, there are far better hibachi...
Read moreNice restaurant. Great friendly staff. The food was a HUGE disappointment. HUGE. First, the waitress kept screwing up. I mean over & over. So much so that she would not stop apologizing. I felt bad for the sweet girl. Our hibachi cook, poor guy, was terrible. Everything he did for entertainment failed. My filet mignon was rubbery, no flavor & he may have mixed up the steaks because mine was NOT a filet. The rice was completely flavorless. There were 3 of us, and none of us liked ANY of the food. My lobster was tough & it tasted like dirty fish tank water. I mean, we were all just frustrated at how horrible everything was going. The party in front of us weren't fans either. We ordered sushi prior, and it was ok. They kept falling apart, though. When the bill came, it was probably the worst part because none of what we had was worth $300. I got really sick when I got home. I mean SICK! I blame the lobster because I'm the only one who had it & the only one that got sick. None of us even put a dent in the food we brought home. It's going in the trash. No one wants it. I will NEVER come back. Great people! Terrible food. Almost forgot! Our hibachi cook gave us noodles. Those were delicious! As for this restaurant & our...
