Southern Maid Donuts Sugar Land — Restaurant in Texas

I’ve been coming to this kolache place ever since I moved to Riverstone, and it used to be one of my go-to breakfast stops. Unfortunately, the quality and service have gone downhill year after year — and today was the final straw.

This morning, I was the only person in the drive-thru when I arrived. Yet, instead of serving in the order customers show up, the employee at the window repeatedly ignored me and prioritized people who walked in afterward. When I tried to calmly point out that this wasn’t right, she shut the window on me mid-sentence — dismissive, rude, and completely unprofessional.

It’s not the first time I’ve had this kind of experience here, and it consistently feels like South Asian customers are treated differently. Whether intentional or not, it’s unacceptable behavior — and it speaks to a deeper problem with how this location operates.

I’ve supported this business for years, but enough is enough. I won’t be returning until there’s a clear change in staff and accountability from management.

I hope others in our Riverstone community who value respect, fairness, and good service will also stand together and boycott this place until it improves.

I was hesitant to try this place after seeing bad reviews online. However, I went this morning, since they are close to my work. The people there were very friendly and the donuts were DELICIOUS. They have 4 different types of filling for donuts (Bavarian, Chocolate, Lime, and Jelly) and they dont pre fill the donuts which means that the cream and everything is fresh. My donut was still hot when I got to work and I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. The service was wonderful and they turned my morning right around and made my day wonderful as well. This used to be my go-to place for kolaches but not anymore. I've been a "regular" here for months now and received subpar service this morning. I asked the woman for 2 saus & cheese kolaches - no spicy. I was very clear when I said that and she gave me spicy anyways. I got 2 mins away and went back. She acted like she didn't just serve me 2 mins ago and was shocked when I told her that she messed up my order. She wasn't apologetic at all and was more confused for whatever reason.
