Pretty much a home run at Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux last night and a really nice place to sit and hang out with friends and have some awesome cocktails and food. We started with the Boom Boom Shrimp, because everyone in the food groups have been talking about it. Really great appetizer, with fantastic flavor and perfecly coated fried crispy shrimp.
We also got the Fried Mozzarella Cheese Logs, definitely a new favorite fried cheese that is hand battered with panko bread crumb. I got the Crawfish Two Ways - crawfish étouffée, fried crawfish tails, rice. Zac got the Pasta linguine, alfredeaux sauce, parmesan with Blackened Chicken. My friends got the Hangover Burger - sunny side up egg, american, bacon, waffle fry, dressed, brioche bun. The Redfish Rudy - blackened redfish, warm tomato salsa, louisiana street corn. Everything was fabulous and everyone enjoyed what the ordered.
Our server was pretty good for being new. I also got a fantastic cocktail called the Death Valley - svedka vodka, don q cristal rum, triple sec, razzmatazz, orange juice, pineapple juice,32 oz. signature cup! My new favorite summer cocktail! Our friends got The Bandita - camarena reposado tequila, patrón citróngemango liqueur, finest call citrus sour, limesour, simple syrup, topped with 7 moonsred blend, orange twist and a Walk-On’s Bloody Mary' -tito's handmade vodka, zing zang bloody mary mix,walk-on's creole seasoning rim. Our other friend got a Blueberry Coconut Mojito - malibu coconut rum, fresh muddled mintand Blueberries. The bar has it going on here!
Ended the night with the famous Krispy Kreme Bread Pudding, which was crazy good and brought home my wife a Boom Boom Shrimp Po-Boy which she said was really good. I included the full menu pics at the end of all the pics. We can't wait to come back and try more, so much more we...
Read moreWell.. sad to say, but we will no longer be dining at Walk-Ons. This weekend my family got severe food poisoning- 1 hospitalized. We ordered the party platter and only received half of our order (this has happened several times before but walk-ons rectified the situation previously). However this time, 5 out of the 6 of us had severe food poisoning - unlike any food poisoning any of us has experienced before and unlike any sickness we’ve ever had. My husband was hospitalized because it was so severe and he lost just about every ounce of fluid in his body. The sickness went on for a full 24 hours. It is very likely that the food poisoning stemmed from the queso because it was the only thing the baby didn’t eat and he was the only one who didn’t get sick. Keeping 2 stars because we really did have a decent experience here for almost a year. The service has definitely declined in the past few months though, sadly, and this experience was enough for all of us to permanently veto the restaurant. Incident occurred on 3/5/22 for reference.
Previous unedited review: (1.5 years ago) First time at Walk-On’s and we loved it! The food was fresh and cooked to perfection. Do yourself a favor and get the mozzarella sticks.. You can thank me later. Pictured is the Bayou Pasta & Lemon Butter Chicken, I substituted onion rings instead of grits ($1 upcharge) I had also eaten the slice of bread and some of the broccoli before photographing the chicken. We ate 2 of the mozzarella sticks before photographing,...
Read morePretty bad experience yesterday with my daughter and sister. Server tried rushing me mid bite to close out and box my food up. I still had half a plate of food and can clearly tell I was being rushed. Then my sister joined me and the server did not even acknowledge her, didn’t give her a menu until she asked, never asked if she wanted something to drink. Mind you, she was still taking tables when my sister arrived, so it’s not like we were keeping her there any longer than she would’ve been with the other tables. She checked on us once and dismissed our entire service. We are not supposed to know when you are cut or leaving, and even still, we do not deserve bad service for this reason. I still tipped exceptionally well based on my tab because I can tell she needed it, but to treat us this poorly and provide zero service was completely unacceptable. She had the back booths as her section yesterday September 12th. I am very disappointed as was my sister, and we felt the need to close out before even getting our food because of how poor the service was. I hope this can be brought to her attention to not treat customers in such a manner because you might have other things to get to after your shift. We would’ve been happy to switch servers if you were in that big of a rush. To ignore us and not give any service to a literal customer at a restaurant is so...
